Hello All,

you might know that " Microsoft has blocked Macros from running through internet" do we have any permanent solution on this?

I have tried the below solution which doesn't work.

  1. Save the file to a local hard drive, network share, or cloud share like OneDrive.
  2. Open Windows File Explorer and go to the folder where you saved the file.
  3. Right-click the file and choose Properties from the context menu.
  4. At the bottom of the General tab, you should see a section for Security. Select the Unblock checkbox and select OK.

Also, tried to enable Macros through Macros settings through Trust center but didn't work?

is there any permanent solution on this?

Hi,

I think I found a solution to my problem.

The solution is to re-map the network drive to the fileserver name first and then adding that mapped directory to the trusted locations in excel.

Mapped Location:

\fileserver\networkdirectory and not \[192.xxx.xxx.xxx]\networkdirectory

Hope it helps someone out there.

    For an individual file, such as a file downloaded from an internet location or an email attachment the user has saved to their local device, the simplest way to unblock macros is to remove the Mark of the Web. To remove, right-click on the file, choose Properties, and then select the Unblock checkbox on the General tab.

    Hi Peter, thanks for the answer. For files sitting in OneDrive, do you know what the solution should be? Since they are in "shared" environment, there is no "unblock" checkbox. Also I tried the suggestion from Microsoft on putting the folder ("C:\Users\jonny\OneDrive\SomeFolder") into a trust location, but without success. Thanks

    This worked for our company:

    Go to Control Panel > Network and Internet > Internet Options > Security > Local Intranet > Sites > Advanced, add the IP address of your server.

    After that, make sure that server/ip address folders that have the data you're linking to are listed in the trusted sources within you excel or access files.

    Hi Ryno

    Thanks for the info. I cant figure out how to remap. I dont do any admin. When I click on 'This PC' I am seeing this:

    I have run the Ipconfig command and have my IP address

    Could you guide me as to next steps?

    do you want to run this macro always?

    if so,ask the author of this macro to sign a digital certificate.

    1. If the macros are digitally signed and the matching Trusted Publisher certificate is installed on the device, the file is opened with the macros enabled. If not, then the evaluation continues.
