UPDATE: CAN'T Fix? : Formula Bar Now at Bottom of Excel (for Android) Screen

Happy 2022!

A couple days ago, I opened a spreadsheet (that I update, daily), & discovered that the Formula Bar had moved to the bottom of my screen. It still does what it's supposed to, but this positioning makes life difficult in multiple ways (details below).

I can't find an update to the Excel app, or Android OS, that seems recent enough to be responsible, though the Excel screen did seem to become set, approx the same time, to match phone's day/night color schemes.

I can't find any mention, or images – online, on Microsoft.com, in tech pubs/blogs, or community forums – of this behavior, or of any way to move the Formula Bar.

Can anyone provide insight into what happened, or how to fix it?

NOTE : System + app versions follow screenshot, along with "difficulties caused" – mentioned above.

UPDATE: This morning [22-May'22], I opened Excel, on my Android phone, & MS "asked" whether I've enjoyed the "Updated Feature: …Has your editing experience become easier having the Formula Bar at the bottom?" {see add'l att}

BINGO ❗ IT'S A FEATURE, NOT A BUG

[Does not explain why an MS rep would request info, trying to replicate the "Feature"]

EXCEL (for Android) : V 1.0.1 (16.0.14729.20146)

PROBLEMS

• Decades of Excel habits, using Formula Bar at top.

• Pop-ups, while typing (suggestions, option selection, etc.), display on top of toolbar, making click/select errors – that clear all content from formula/data entry field – inevitable.

• Enlarging the Formula Bar covers bottom (typically more important) rows of spreadsheet, + makes them trickier to access.

You don't agree to what? to my comment??? I replied to the poster who mentioned that Window 11 is not affected, Windows 11, to my knowledge, is for computers (laptop, all in one) but not to android (unless Apple systems, I don't use Apple), I wrote that it affect the Android which is not on the computers, is that hard to understand????

Well when I first installed Excel on my Oukitel phone, it was at the top.

When I moved to my Samsung A12, it was still on the top.

Then all of a sudden it has moved to the bottom.

So that theory is as much use as a chocolate fireguard. :-)

Phone is on version 1.0.1 (16.0.15330.20166)

Need to check the version on my laptop.

Hmm, same version on my tablet? Go figure?

Sent in feedback. Others should do so, perhpas they might even listen then?

Just found something new. Sorry if y'all knew it already. In spreadsheet go to File, scroll down to Feedback and feel free to express your opinion on the decision (it's NOT a bug) to move the formula bar to the bottom of the page.

As posted above somewhere. In Excel (but as far as I can see ONLY the desktop version) go to FILE (Top LHS) and scroll nearly to the bottom to "Feedback". Feel free to express your "concerns". MS will only do something if they get "enough complaints".

Dude! Settle! LOL Please. You're over reacting and over nothing!

Your post was at best ambiguous. You might have been suggesting that the behaviour was simply different in each OS without attributing cause, or suggesting that Android itself was responsible for the behaviour.

So based on the latter and on my experience, I simply replied that I did not agree. Android OS couldn't in anyway be responsible for the behaviour in question because I experienced the formula bar at the top for a least 18 months, and then it suddenly appeared at the bottom, and not following an Android update. So it's a reasonable assumption that the location change is a result of MS pushing an app update.

For the record the formula remains on top on my Windows 10 Professional PC.
