UPDATE: CAN'T Fix? : Formula Bar Now at Bottom of Excel (for Android) Screen

No similar problems occurred in our tests.

Please try resetting your Excel application to see if this can be fixed. Go to Setting->Reset.

If the problem persists, I would like to know if creating a new workbook will still cause the problem.

Thank you – for the quick response, & suggestion.

Unfortunately, it did not change anything. Backing up, I have a professional tech background, & should have mentioned other steps I'd already tried, when I posted. Your suggestion would still have been new, & worth trying, but, now, for the record, here are some of the other steps I've tried – some before, + some after, reading & trying your suggestion. None provided any change/improvement; I :

• Cleared the Excel cache, in Android Settings, + Powered off & Started the phone (did not 'Restart'), before rechecking
• Created a new blank workbook, first with my phone, then with my Win10 desktop (which has never exhibited this problem); reopening either on my phone made no difference; but either displayed fine on my desktop
• Uninstalled Excel, then Powered off + Started the phone, before reinstalling & checking Excel
• Since Excel's in-app Settings, on my phone, only offer "Reset Office", I first just reset Excel (Force-stopped the app, then cleared its cache + data), then Powered off + Started the phone, before opening Excel
• Your suggestion: Used Excel's in-app Settings, to "Reset OFFICE" (I was surprised at how quickly this occurred – the app seemed ready to allow me to open a workbook, more quickly than if I'd just closed a workbook), but still no improvement, before or after restarting

I'm still stuck, and at a loss.

One STRANGE BEHAVIOR/observation that may be worth noting – I have a pair of Samsung Galaxy Tab S4s – that's the model that came out approximately when Office pricing changed, & has a screen that's 0.1 inch too large to qualify for a free copy of Office for Android (which is not a problem, as I don't use either for anything requiring Office functionality).

FTR: I own/use full, legal software + licensing for local-install Office Pro and Windows 10 Pro.

This afternoon, I became curious, & checked one of the Tabs. Initially, behind text advising that I could not save any changes without subscribing to Office 365, I could see that the function bar was at the bottom of the screen, same as on my phone. After resetting office on my phone and restarting both tablets, I checked them, & both, thru the same warning text, now show function bars at the top of the workbook page, like my desktop, + like my phone, just last week. Go figya‽

Any further advice, suggestions, recommendations, etc., would be greatly appreciated, EXCEPT a full Factory Data Reset on my phone. That will, no doubt, at some point, become inevitable, & I will check this, then, but given the time already spent on this issue I can't afford more days, configuring my phone to be just what it otherwise is, today.

I've got the same problem on a Honor 20pro, Android 10, Magic UI 4.0.

Same problem as well. S21+

Since there are now 3 people reporting the same new & (dis)"improved" "feature" I suspect it is MS playing silly bug**s with Excel Android.

They are doing similar stuff in Office on Windows 11, but not as drastic.

I strongly suggest you (all 3) send a feedback to MS complaining about this (dis)"improvement".

The “Answers” forum / community is “staffed” mostly by users like yourself, unpaid volunteers. This forum is intended more for “How to do something in application A” type questions. We sometimes can provide work-arounds for problems, but we can’t do anything about underlying problem. If the forum can’t solve your question you need to talk directly to MS, you need to submit a “Feedback” to MS.

For a couple of years now MS has had a "feedback" process that allows users submit bug reports / problems, suggestions and new feature requests directly to MS developers and managers. You can submit feedbacks from within many MS apps, or you can use the Win10 “Feedback Hub” app. This article describes the different ways you can submit Feedback to MS:

There is also a new web based “Feedback Portal” in development. It is still labelled “Preview”. It provides functionality similar to the feedback hub. Access to feedbacks submitted in 34 categories.

As users we are unpaid quality control testers, we identify bugs, they pick which feedbacks they will work on, and when they will release them, for testing by Insiders and to general public.

But don't "expect" anything like feedback about your feedback back from MS.

MS will make fixes and changes on their own schedule.

They will not provide much, if any, advance notice of what they are working on and/or when it will be released.

Hint : get a “share” link to your feedback (may take a couple of minutes to process the initial submission of the feedback) and post the link back to this question. That way if someone finds this question they will be able to link directly to your feedback so they can vote for it and add their comments. The more feedback on a subject, the more likely it is to be acted on.
