Access version 2201 problem with laccdb

Hi!

I have a problem when closing Access program since Access version 2201 (26th January 2022).

There is still a "record-locking informations" laccdb not closing (and that results in several other errors as well like accdb is not opening again and others.

I had to go back to version 2112 ... and then all is fine again.

Is this a wellknown problem with version 2201 already? .... and will this be fixed in a next version?

Most valuable professional. It just means MS recognizes that an individual as contributing to the community. Basically, I help in forums a lot, answer lots of questions, have a very extensive website with lots of information... try to help other users freely. I do not work for MS! I am not paid by MS! I simply try to help fellow users when I can.

    I get the same 3048 error with Office Access 365 64 bit, Version 2201 Build 16.0.14827.20158 (current channel preview).

    The error does not always appear but MSACCESS.exe always keeps running after I close the application. After killing this process I can delete the laccdb file.

    I'm glad I found this thread. It save me from diving into my own code (that until recently worked just fine).

    I am having exactly the same problem, with the same Access version - Microsoft® Access® for Microsoft 365 MSO (Version 2201 Build 16.0.14827.20028) 32-bit

    Like you, if I bypass my startup form, when I exit there is no ghost process or lock file. My startup form is just a "menu" of sorts with a dozen cmdButtons to run various routines. But if I open the form, then I get the ghost process and lock file.

    I have the same issue and would like to add, that Access 2201 (Build 14827.20158) opens more connections compared to previous version and does not free those* after closing the affected elements. This also results in Access 2201, keeping table IDs open in the background which then leads eventually to error code 3048 "Cannot open any more databases".

    *(at least not all of them)

    We also reverted back, in our case to Access 2111 (TargetVersion="16.0.14701.20226") which does not have the described issue.

    More details as requested by Daniel Pineault:
    32 Bit, Current Channel, Version 2201, Build 14827.20158 -> Has the issues as described above
    32 Bit, Current Channel, Version 2111, Build 14701.20226 -> Does NOT have the issue as described above

    We didn't test the versions in between.
