Microsoft is aware of this problem and working on a solution.

I just noticed that the links are now working as before.

I'm running Version 2109 (Build 14430.20306).

I wonder if someone has the same experience.

HI and thank for the update.... there is no work around in the meantime that anybody has tried? Thanks you.

A suggested workaround in this thread is to upload the Word document to OneDrive, open it in the web browser, and then download the document as a PDF (see for example the reply by LGonzalez). This appears to preserve hyperlinks in tables of contents and other locations.

    Hi,

    1. Use Word for the web
    2. Revert Office version to 16.0.14326.20348

    How to revert Office version?

    from 2770432.

Step 3: Disable automatic updates for Office

This step is very important. Office automatically checks for updates on a regular basis. To prevent Office from automatically installing new updates, follow these steps:

    1. Start Word.
    2. Click File, and then click Office Account.
    3. In the Product Information column, click Update Options, and then click Disable Updates.

    hope this helps.

Same issues here. External hyperlinks are working, but internal links (to other parts of the same pdf file) are not working. Except for hyperlinks linked to figures. Those do work. Strange. Hopefully there will be a solution from Microsoft soon.
