How do I disable "Microsoft Word Security Notice" pop-up

I am extremely frustrated, to the point that I want to just switch over to Apple products the way everyone tells me to.

For no reason - (at least nothing I did), Microsoft appears to have installed some type of software on my computer that whenever I copy and paste into a MS Word document, I get an annoying pop-up:

Microsoft Word Security Notice

Microsoft Office has identified a potential security concern.

This document contains fields that can share data with external files and websites. It is important that this file is from a trustworthy source.

Choosing Yes will enable updating all fields in this file until you close it.

And I say --- duh! This is what I was trying to do. But why do I have to be annoyed each and every time I do anything with MS Word products??? Oh.. I'm using Windows 10 Professional and a Microsoft 365 account through my school

How can I fix it? Or should I just throw this Dell Latitude Laptop out the window and start over with an iBook?

I'm not sure if this is a bug or a security feature which was enabled after the last update. Is there a way to disable this warning when doing mail merges?

It is a bug in the last update, and it is what Microsoft's team is working to resolve. When the fix is released, the security notice should not pop up when it isn't appropriate, i.e., during a merge or after pasting a benign object from another location. Until that fix arrives, though, the rollback that you did is the only way to avoid the notices.

I just updated my MS Office and this problem has been solved.

    Hello everyone,

    We have a Powershell script that we use to open Word as a COM object, and the word document has a link to a trusted location file.

    As of about July last year, this has resulted in our script being broken.

    Tonisa's registry key did resolve the issue for us as well, so we can alter our script to change that key and then change it back when done, but I'd much prefer not to have to do that just to have Word operate as it should!

    Looking forward to hearing from the Word team.

    Thanks for your update here. I share your frustration. 10 months+ now, many updates later, and I feel completely ignored by the WORD \ Microsoft team.

    I have two machines in the office on Windows 10, one is rolled back so I can work without this problem. And the other completely updated, so I can test to see if the issue has been resolved. Alas not yet.

    I can't move to Windows 11 until I know they have resolved this issues.

    Hi Jay,

    We use Office automation and MS Word to generate reports and many other types of documents.

    We do this within a VBA macro environment and generate many documents at a time. We do not use "mail merge" at all.

    YES, we need and want to have meta data about the document stored in document properties.

    The notice about unsafe document properties stops the whole process. So now instead of enjoying a batch process that can run hands-off worry-free, the user has to sit there and click through these useless warnings.

    To be clear, this has nothing to do with the internet, mail merge, or any of the other similar messages people have been posting here.

    Can you tell me if Microsoft has a setting that can shut this off? Nothing in this thread addresses (and/or fixes) that specific problem.
