Just got this as part of my support case, looks like it should be OK now.

There was service degradation: OP283538

More info: Impact was specific to all versions of Microsoft OneNote excluding OneNote 2016 and web client. Windows 10 desktop client, iOS and Android mobile app versions were all impacted.

Final status: We've confirmed that a recent deployment intended to provide optimizations for service stability inadvertently introduced a regression in service logic, resulting in impact. We've reverted the affecting change and confirmed that impact is mitigated.

Start time: Wednesday, September 1, 2021, at 5:30 PM UTC

End time: Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at 7:00 PM UTC

Root cause: A recent deployment intended to provide optimizations for service stability inadvertently introduced a regression in service logic, resulting in impact.

The service is restored now.

    Hi Ark,

    thanks for your response.

I am able to use the web app fine, but i need some of the features from the app.

No other teachers at my work are currently experiencing the same issue.

I contacted the IT Admin at my work. He thought it might be my university email in the keychain affecting it but its worked for 7 years without issue so i don't know why this weekend it would breakdown on me.

He told me to download the dmg file again. Then he said delete all microsoft apps. restart the device and then install the new dmg.

I can do this, but it will take ages to sync all the classes and my faculty notebook back down to the side of application, so i was trying to avoid it.

Was waiting to hear someone on heres thoughts first before i committed to that.

I can chime in on this one. I've got 2-3 staff with the same issue, same error message on Windows 10 machines. We're using OneNote for Windows 10 via the MS Store.

I've tried adding the notebook via different methods, repair/reset/remove and reinstall of OneNote for Win 10 and manually deleting the package files to no avail. Using the same account on another machine seems to work short term but then it too has the same problem.

The staff member I was testing with had a large number of Notebooks open as well, but since we needed to try get it working she was happy for me to remove it all and start again.

I've seen similar threads popping up around the internet from the last couple days, so something must have changed in the last few days to have triggered it. I've logged this with MS on my end directly to see what they can come up with.

    Hi all,

Thanks for reporting this issue, we understand this is causing you trouble syncing your notebooks. We have seen similar reports in this community, I would like to make a summary of this case, so it is easier to identify the issue:

    Issue Description:

Users got the error 'E000006B blg57' and cannot sync OneNote notebooks when using the desktop/mobile app.

    Environment*:*

    OneNote desktop app on Mac/Windows

    OneNote mobile app on iOS/Android.

    Suggested solution:

Considering that the issue affects several accounts across different tenants, it is probably caused by a service incident that is un-reported currently. As we don’t have the abilities and resources to solve the problem from the back end, we'd like to suggest you contact the IT department to ask the admins to open a support ticket to escalate the problem to the relevant team straightly for further assistance: Get support | Microsoft Docs

We are sorry for the inconvenience to your work, and we sincerely hope the problem can be fixed as soon as possible.

And in order to avoid losing your data, please note to back up the un-synced notes before the issue gets solved.

    Best Regards,

    Arck

Same issue here – can't access any of my notebooks via iOS apps. MacOS desktop app worked briefly for about five minutes this morning, then gave up the ghost. Web access works perfectly. Error code is always 0xE000006B clp0b.
