How to disable Files On-Demand in OneDrive MacOS? It's enforced since the last update ...

For OneDrive home and business, I cannot disable Files-On-Demand since the last update. This is crucial, I need full access to my files at all time.

What is going on? Why would you enforce Files On-Demand on your customers, isn't it enough to enable it by default? My 70GB of cloud data is not local anymore, sometimes I have no internet, you are locking me away from my files. Also making it impossible for me to do full text searches. Files On-Demand is also too slow, waiting a second to display folder contents is too much when you organize things in deep folder structures.

How I can disable Files On-Demand? Will you please stop knowing the best for your customers? We aren't toddlers. Thanks!

If Files On-Demand is enforced by policy, I will leave your cloud service once and for all.

    And it completely broke my backup scheme, Acronis Cyber Protect Home Office. The update to OneDrive moved my local files to a subdirectory of ~username/Library/CloudStorage, which contains either actual files or references to files on the cloud. Acronis can't back up cloud files, so the backups always failed.

    Until I downloaded everything by doing Finder copies of everything on OneDrive and then deleting OneDrive from the computer.

    This cost me a bundle of time and $$, as I'd assumed my 16 GB WD backup NAS was hosed and replaced it.

    Slick move, Microsoft. It's stuff like this that makes me a Mac user.

    so many bugs in version 22, and files on demand couldn't be disabled,

    the only way was to go back to version 21

    install package of version 21 was a bit hard to search, you can also install office for mac 2022, version 21.150 was in this package

    after install version 21, you must delete 3 update plists, if not, onedrive will update to version 22 and nightmare will recur

    update plists will start with computer and you can disable/delete use autostart manager.

    When I tried to download all my files back to the mac - OneDrive said it needed to be reset. Since resetting it - I haven't been able to log in. The app just hangs after choosing the existing folder. Did you even test it on Macs with large numbers of files and 600Gb of data?

    After 2 uninstall/reinstalls I got it working (for 5 mins anyway) only to get another request to reset OneDrive. Please fix this!

    The fact that you did this silently in an update is beyond comprehension; not to mention it was done so badly it makes it impossible to return your Mac back to the state it was in before it got hijacked by OneDrive.

    I just wanted to let everyone know that in the newest update the option for local storage appears to be back (see screenshot).

    The situation indeed improved, but we still have a situation that caused a lot of damage, especially when it comes to metered connections and broken symlinks. I doubt there will happen anything more, at least the wait time is almost gone when browsing files. It was still better before and I assume this is due to Apples API.
