For OneDrive home and business, I cannot disable Files-On-Demand since the last update. This is crucial, I need full access to my files at all time.
What is going on? Why would you enforce Files On-Demand on your customers, isn't it enough to enable it by default? My 70GB of cloud data is not local anymore, sometimes I have no internet, you are locking me away from my files. Also making it impossible for me to do full text searches. Files On-Demand is also too slow, waiting a second to display folder contents is too much when you organize things in deep folder structures.
How I can disable Files On-Demand? Will you please stop knowing the best for your customers? We aren't toddlers. Thanks!
If Files On-Demand is enforced by policy, I will leave your cloud service once and for all.

Th is annoying! I just made my company moving away from server. I have to move to dropbox if this is not being fixed!
Came to do some work, discovered Microsoft had deleted all my files from my hard drive. Just as well I'm so careful about backups of backups.
Everything will be restored in my usual documents folder and OneDrive will no longer be used. I paid for this service as part of my subscription so I feel robbed twice now - once of my files and from buying a service that now has zero use.
MS have 100% lost my trust. I'm gobsmacked anybody would think this was a good idea. I found a phone number for customer support that gives you this website address and then hangs up on you. Says it all.
Microsoft has gone radio silent because this was an intentional change as part of a broader business plan. They're not going to revert back to the way it was. They're just Justin Trudeau'ing the thread hoping it'll go away. The ball is in the users' court, whether you like it or not.
Exactly, I don't see how Microsoft will revert it. I did some research and they had to change their code, because they were using an obsolete API that will be removed in an upcoming MacOS update and they decided to use the new official cloud file API from Apple, which in itself doesn't sound wrong. Dropbox is doing the same AFAIK. Microsofts execution is what failed miserably, not informing their users and not testing their build. They will probably fix some errors and then sit it out.
Mia also didn't respond for 5 pages, so the message is clear anyways. It's time to move on. Microsoft deserves the loss, I just wish there was more terrible PR for them.
After spending too much of my own time debugging through their stuff, I did finally get it mostly working. I had to select all the top-level folders and select "Keep files on this device" (or whatever it says).
But it still has two issues...
Been very frustrating working through it. Obviously this change was not well thought-out nor well communicated to users. I would look else where (Dropbox), but we do use Office products, and we're not exclusively macOS users. So we're stuck with OneDrive for now.
Come on Apple, fix iCloud!
Please put the setting back to turn off files on demand.
