How to disable Files On-Demand in OneDrive MacOS? It's enforced since the last update ...

Using your solution of having to now re-download all of my files by selecting "Always Keep on This Device" will cost me my next 3 full months of data usage allotment on my internet plan. I don't think that you realize that I don't have any other option than a satellite internet plan with limited data. Living in a rural area I do not have broadband available. Even if I want it and want to pay for it, we simply do not have broadband. So my choices are use the 'always keep on this device' today and blow out my plan for the rest of the month or incrementally, over the next 3-5 months gradually re-download all of my files. This is unreal.

I will literally have to go somewhere like my library this weekend to access their wifi and hope that I can download some of the files to a flashdrive, although again, in rural communities they too have significant limitations on download speeds. Fast food restaurants sometimes have wifi available for free...I will need to scope out places in the county where I can tap into free access so that I don't blow out my data plan to access MY files.

Can you understand that this is just not right?

I feel everyone's pain here. I struggled for about a week, and then ultimately made the decision a few days ago to migrate elsewhere. It was the right decision.

Microsoft has gone radio silent because this was an intentional change as part of a broader business plan. They're not going to revert back to the way it was. They're just Justin Trudeau'ing the thread hoping it'll go away. The ball is in the users' court, whether you like it or not.

I want to just add on that I am in a enterprise setting at a university and this change has made onedrive absolutely unusable for me. I am working with my CIO right now to find alternatives for our entire university. The number of complaints is going to lead us to finding an alternative supplier for these services.

This is OUTRAGEOUS. Why? I don't even need to elaborate on how severely OneDrive is crippled by the inability to DISABLE FILES-ON-DEMAND. I will wait a few weeks before cancelling the Microsoft365 subscriptions for dozens of my colleagues.

Here is an update on how spectacularly this is working out for me and my limited data plan: as a reminder...folks in rural areas DO NOT HAVE A CHOICE but to have limited data plans, we don't have broadband here...and I'm only 10 miles from Morgantown WV.

So, yesterday: 250 MB alone for me to work on the slide decks that I needed to access for upcoming presentations. 20 MB for my spreadsheets for our research project.

Today was the best because I had to download my files, so that I could turn around and upload them to a conference secure website. This is me now using DOUBLE data because of the limitations you've put on keeping my files on the cloud. My service is now so throttled, that it took me nearly 3 minutes just to load this page to give you this update. Why is my service throttled, because I'm using an insane amount of my data to download my files that used to be right here...

It's just not a fair solution for some of us who are stuck with rural internet providers, no broadband, and throttles on our usage. I'll be out of data in about 11 days if I keep up this rate. My plan doesn't turn over until the 30th.
