Mia, did you redirect this issue to your supervisor or not? There is no justification to demand more time of your customers. It should be enough that we complain in one forum, what kind of attitude is that, please?

If you are unable to redirect issues, why are you a mod here?

Thank you for posting the advice to select a few folders or files only. I could not figure out how to even find the "Always Keep on this Device" without that nuanced direction.

For Microsoft and everyone else, I do agree with the overall sentiment that Microsoft chose to break something that was working. My voice joins the chorus of "fix it!"

Hi, Mia; I understand the awkward situation you are in where someone up the chain removed a feature and then has left you to deal with us angry users who no longer have local control over our own files. You need to know that the "Always keep on this device" solution simply doesn't work. I'm a pretty savvy user of both Microsoft and Apple products (I started with Microsoft Office 1.05 in 1984 and bought my first Mac shortly thereafter) and something doesn't work with macOS Monterrey and OneDrive. Microsoft should never have forced us to use Files on Demand in the first place. I know you didn't make that decision, but you have closer access to that person than any of us posting here.

The only solution I have is to download all my files and leave OneDrive. For those who might be reading, head over to insynchq.com and you'll find a convenient way to access your OneDrive files and keep local copies by default on your computers. And it works with Linux.

in the blog you quote, the engineer states that :

"The key thing to remember here is that if you double-click the files that we already have in our cache (files that you pinned when you selected “Always Keep On This Device” and anything you had downloaded before we did the upgrade), they will be retrieved and opened as expected, without any network traffic. This will work even if OneDrive isn't running, is paused, and so forth."

This is definitely not what I experience. If I try to open a file that has the no download sign next to it doesn't open, unless I'm connected to internet. I have more than 100 GB of data and half of them have the no download sign next to them, even after I tried to download them or using the terminal command that the engineer suggests in the blog to run the first time we open OneDrive. I'm trying to get my files since Sunday, my laptop is ready for "lift off" with fans working continuously due to the huge amount of recourses that OneDrive consumes.

Any advice one how to resolve this?

This is ridiculous, I have had to waste hours so far over the last days and my files still are not syncing like they should. Delays, missing files, having to log in multiple times to sync etc. I use several different computers doing each day and they were previously in sync. Now it is a mess and I can't trust it. Some file just don't seem to sync and for all of them there is an unacceptable delay. I shouldn't have to check that the last changes to a simple Word document are included in the same file when I open it on another machine and then wait or fiddle around to see of they sync eventually.

I certainly love Office but the only reason I have been using OneDrive is because in 2017 or 2018 Auto Save for Excel and Word stopped working with files saved on iCloud.

Shame on Microsoft (and Apple if also responsible) for these kinds of poorly thought out or intentionally restrictive changes.

OFFICE SHOULD HAVE FULL FUNCTION ON ICLOUD, GOOGLE DRIVE AND OTHER FILE STORAGE SELECTIONS AND NOTE KEEP PUTTING IN BARRIERS.

Attempts to push Apple users to Microsoft OS or hardware are totally inappropriate. Perhaps the FTC should receive some letters on this.
