How to disable Files On-Demand in OneDrive MacOS? It's enforced since the last update ...

For OneDrive home and business, I cannot disable Files-On-Demand since the last update. This is crucial, I need full access to my files at all time.

What is going on? Why would you enforce Files On-Demand on your customers, isn't it enough to enable it by default? My 70GB of cloud data is not local anymore, sometimes I have no internet, you are locking me away from my files. Also making it impossible for me to do full text searches. Files On-Demand is also too slow, waiting a second to display folder contents is too much when you organize things in deep folder structures.

How I can disable Files On-Demand? Will you please stop knowing the best for your customers? We aren't toddlers. Thanks!

If Files On-Demand is enforced by policy, I will leave your cloud service once and for all.

I am reading all the comments and I agree with all people mad that microsoft deleted our files without asking or permission.

I want thing back as they were and I want it really fast, please. I hate that in this version the files are hidden in a Library folder, because all my python codes that need a clear drive path are not working. Now all the files I need to generate in the onedrive folder are ending in the Library folder (not the path I installed the onedrive), and they are not being syncronized.

What are you going to do to fix this?

    Hi,

Thanks for posting in our community.

Based on the detailed description, we do understand the inconveniences it caused on your side with the latest updates in OneDrive for Mac desktop app that Files On-Demand will be enabled automatically. Kindly check the statement in the official article: Save disk space with OneDrive Files On-Demand for Mac (microsoft.com)

For the possible workaround currently, it is suggested to right-click on the offline-needed files/folders and select 'Always keep on this device'.

For this updated setting, we do understand that it would be better if there have another button/option to turn off the Files On-Demand feature instead of selecting all files/folders manually. As forum engineers here have limited resources to the building of OneDrive apps, kindly submit your feedback to the related OneDrive for Mac product team so that they can get informed that this can cause some inconveniences for users who need files locally when offline. See: How do I give feedback on Microsoft Office?

Your understanding is highly appreciated and hope a nice day for you!!

    Best Regards,

    Mia

Everytime you kept saying "we do understand the inconveniences it caused..... blablabla.....". Did you really understand? ---NO! Have you been making more troubles after each so-called "updates"? ---YES!
Everyone ever worked at Microsoft are genius --- at least you think you are. As an MS Excel user, I tell you the best version was 4.0 & 5.0. Since then, all new versions were rubbish. You could become the would's greatest people if you kept the old versions for all of your products & never made any trouble-making updates/upgrades.
Not sure you've heard a joke form the 90S: If we were compensated $1 for everytime our computer got hung by MS products, Bill Gates would go bankrupt in a week. The joke still stands today!

I want my files on my computer all the time too. I don't know why Microsoft does this kind of thing unilaterally. That's why I never use Microsoft solutions if I can avoid them.

Please return the button to disable files on demand.

    Thanks.

I am meeting the same problem: you may save up space for us (that I did not need to save), but onedrive kills my RAM. I cannot work at all if I am syncinc, which is unfortunately going to give me no choice but to leave your services... Please help with this.

That is not correct. I have a 1TB plan and another 1TB with Sharepoint. I am having the same issue and have worked with Microsoft engineers on several occasions. They are very helpful but in the end have to say, SORRY... our bad!

What a way to run a business.
