How to disable Files On-Demand in OneDrive MacOS? It's enforced since the last update ...

For OneDrive home and business, I cannot disable Files-On-Demand since the last update. This is crucial, I need full access to my files at all time.

What is going on? Why would you enforce Files On-Demand on your customers, isn't it enough to enable it by default? My 70GB of cloud data is not local anymore, sometimes I have no internet, you are locking me away from my files. Also making it impossible for me to do full text searches. Files On-Demand is also too slow, waiting a second to display folder contents is too much when you organize things in deep folder structures.

How I can disable Files On-Demand? Will you please stop knowing the best for your customers? We aren't toddlers. Thanks!

If Files On-Demand is enforced by policy, I will leave your cloud service once and for all.

This is ridiculous, I have had to waste hours so far over the last days and my files still are not syncing like they should. Delays, missing files, having to log in multiple times to sync etc. I use several different computers doing each day and they were previously in sync. Now it is a mess and I can't trust it. Some file just don't seem to sync and for all of them there is an unacceptable delay. I shouldn't have to check that the last changes to a simple Word document are included in the same file when I open it on another machine and then wait or fiddle around to see of they sync eventually.

I certainly love Office but the only reason I have been using OneDrive is because in 2017 or 2018 Auto Save for Excel and Word stopped working with files saved on iCloud.

Shame on Microsoft (and Apple if also responsible) for these kinds of poorly thought out or intentionally restrictive changes.

OFFICE SHOULD HAVE FULL FUNCTION ON ICLOUD, GOOGLE DRIVE AND OTHER FILE STORAGE SELECTIONS AND NOTE KEEP PUTTING IN BARRIERS.

Attempts to push Apple users to Microsoft OS or hardware are totally inappropriate. Perhaps the FTC should receive some letters on this.

    Hi everyone,

The related product engineer has been updating about this new experience in the blog: Inside the new Files On-Demand Experience on macOS - Microsoft Tech Community Kindly check the details and feel free to submit your feedback and ideas in OneDrive · Feedback Community (microsoft.com) or leave comments in the blog so that the related product team can hear your voice more clearly.

Mia, did you redirect this issue to your supervisor or not? There is no justification to demand more time of your customers. It should be enough that we complain in one forum, what kind of attitude is that, please?

If you are unable to redirect issues, why are you a mod here?

We know that it's not your fault for what happened, but you have the responsibility to escalate now, so I kindly ask you once again to escalate the issue to your supervisor.

    Thanks.

Haha, you need to hire some UX designers that will help you and sort such things for you Microsoft.

You acted like an indie startup. Ridiculous that in such a big corporation it seems like you are not thinking, or have no people to do so. In your ads, you advertise yourself as a PRO but tbh what we can see is a huge mess and you don't know how to make development and iterations.

As One Drive Product Team, you will be facing professionals which are in many cases smarter than people in your company.

You lost me as a One drive user, Edge User, and all services user. You can't be trusted.

I can only imagine how angry someone who uses a satellite phone or someone with limited internet access must be right now. - no files...

And seriously, you need to ask your UX designers, not engineers or programmers they aren't important anymore. Have some empathy... Who is in charge there? You should "have a talk" with him/her :D

I decided to switch from OneDrive to Mega.io for good.

I have a Raspberry PI 4 in my house that I use to make Time Machine backups and to store some other data, so starting this weekend I will be using the Mega client to sync a 6TB HDD attached to that R-PI with Mega and I'll use the same approach to sync the folder with the info I have stored in OneDrive.

That way I'll have not only a good and reliable backup on the cloud but on my Time Machine storage too.

After all, this situation made me think about the best way to keep my data safe and accessible.

Thanks for that Microsoft and goodbye!
