Microsoft Office has Identified a Potential Security Concern

Hi,

Starting this afternoon, when I copy an paste an HTML-based wiki file (from Zendesk) into Word, I see the attached error.

I perform this operation numerous times, and never saw this notice until today. I have Word 365 Win10.

The problem does not occur when I paste a Confluence page.

Can someone clarify this message for me? What do they mean by "Choosing YES will enable updating all fields in this file..." What fields? And are they talking about the source file or target file?

This is a bug in the current build - Microsoft is aware if the issue and working on a fix - but I have no ETA for when it will be fixed.

    I thought it was obvious that we, the consumers of their product, are their new QA department LOL

    Is in the windows update released on 10th Oct solve the problem of (Microsoft office has identified a security concern....)..Plesase help

    Yesterday there was a Windows update and an Office 365 update. Hope springs eternal with every new update. But, sadly these two new updates did NOT resolve the problem

    I have two machines. One with a previous working version of Office 365 and the current update of Windows, and there are NO problems. But my second machine, which has the latest version of Office 365 and Windows is still displaying the problem, this error message.

    I do NOT work for Microsoft, and I'm not some wiz bang computer genius, I only have one working machine with a previous version because Microsoft chat support logged in to my machine and rolled back Office 365 to a working version.

    They are aware of the problem. But (for whatever reason) have not fixed it yet. Problem here since September 2021.

    Because it's not a common problem (there would be a lot more threads about it) - it is likely caused by interaction with another utility, as in this How do I disable "Microsoft Word Security Notice" pop-up (page=8) (Mark_Harris Replied on October 15, 2021).

    Even if you don't use the utility mentioned in that thread, their explanation of the cause points to the problem: using the Microsoft Word API to do something.

    To temporarily rollback:

    Open command prompt using run as admin, get the version # from the other computer - run this command line, replacing the xxxx.yyyy with the 'good' version #. Turn off updates when its done and check again in 30 days.

    "C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\ClickToRun\officec2rclient.exe" /update user updatetoversion=16.0.xxxx.yyyy
