Microsoft Office has Identified a Potential Security Concern

Hi,

Starting this afternoon, when I copy an paste an HTML-based wiki file (from Zendesk) into Word, I see the attached error.

I perform this operation numerous times, and never saw this notice until today. I have Word 365 Win10.

The problem does not occur when I paste a Confluence page.

Can someone clarify this message for me? What do they mean by "Choosing YES will enable updating all fields in this file..." What fields? And are they talking about the source file or target file?

This is a bug in the current build - Microsoft is aware if the issue and working on a fix - but I have no ETA for when it will be fixed.

    Diane,

    Thanks for the update that some third party software companies have come up with a solution for those using their software. How about the rest of us, that are not using a third party software, just using WORD and other Microsoft Office Suite products, who run into this error daily. Any chance Microsoft, who you previously said is aware of the problem, is going to fix it?

    it likely is Exclaimer cloud - they have a solution - What to do if you receive a Microsoft Word Security Notice – Knowledge Base (exclaimer.com)

    Another user suggested adding this registry key in How do I disable "Microsoft Word Security Notice" pop-up (page=6) (tonisa Replied on September 16, 2021)

    HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Word\Security\

    DWORD: DisableWarningOnIncludeFieldsUpdate

    Hi

    I went from semi annual to current channel in Office 365 yesterday morning and ever since then, every hour or so i get this pop up, telling me word has identified a potential security concern, however, this happens even if i have just booted my device and nothing, including outlook is even running, we do however use Exclaimer cloud, for our signatures, and I believe that this is what is causing this issue for me, based on the log entries on my device, but i could be wrong

    Dear Diane,

    this issue is still happening even if the user is doing nothing.

    It's a random issue affecting several users on our organization. Do you have an ETA for the fix?
