Word (Mac) Zoom issues

Hi Alex,

I´m experiencing the issue using Word for Mac 16.52 and I'm indeed one of the M1 users.

Just fyi I'm Schaefer who opened this thread.

Thank you so much for your work on this, I very much hope the issue can be fixed as I agree with Owen about how it makes using Word quite difficult.

sorry for letting you wait. Unfortunately, I'm still abroad without access to my Mac. I have though been able to talk to my partner about the issue, who has access to my Mac.

The issue doesn't seem to occur when clicking +/-. The MacOS version I´m using is BigSur.

I hope the issue can be fixed and highly appreciate your efforts! Thank you very much!

Very interesting. So, the issue didn't occur for you in 16.53. But when you updated to 16.54, it began. Is that right? (Just curious.)

I will submit the feedback ASAP and select the attach log option, as you say.

I look forward to hearing back about how the issue may be fixed. But in the meantime, thank you very much again, Alex, for your work on this.

Hi Owen,

I spoke to soon. Seems like I can reproduce this issue now.

This is really weird, because, I was using the previous test machine with Big Sur and Word for Mac 16.53. Which at that time point, we could not reproduce the issue.

And for some reason, I've joined the insider program and update my Word for Mac to beta version 16.54. Then the issue start.

It the totally the same behavior as shown in your video.

I've submit a feedback in Word application and I would recommend any member in this thread to do this as well.

How do I give feedback on Microsoft Office?

After fill in the issue description, make sure you tick on the attach log option.

Meantime, I will try involving some more resources to check this issue.

Hi Owen,

I won't guarantee that upgrading your macOS to Big Sur will fix this issue. To be honest this sounds like a long shot to me as well.

There were 2 M1 chip users reporting the similar issue in this thread and if I remember correctly, the M1 chip mac come with the Big Sur OS.

So if they are experiencing the same issue in Big Sur, then in my idea, the system OS is not the root cause for the issue here.

During this period, I've managed to setup a macOS Catalina 10.15.7 system. However I still can not reproduce this issue.

When zooming in the Word application, it won't jump to the random page.

If you want to see how it works on my side, please let me know and I will send you a video.

I will try involving some related resources and see if they know anything related with this issue.

Meantime, could you try setup a new local user account on your Mac and see how it goes?

Also, I am not sure if George asked this before, have you installed any add-ins in your Word application?
