Microsoft Access is not allowing me to compact and repair. Keeps saying its open etc

Microsoft Access is not allowing me to compact and repair the database. It keeps saying file is open. I made new database and imported files even then same issue and it says it is opening in sharing mode. I haven't shared with anybody. How to shut off this sharing mode. Mine is a single computer for home and is not part of any network. Please guide. Thank you. Ripal

    I've heard from Mcafee again and the case has been passed for discussion with their research team. So it seems they are still investigating, but I doubt we will have a quick solution. Time will tell!

    So after all of us breaking our head, we finally confirmed that it is Mcafee that is causing teh problem. I had not installed in one; uninstalled in another, and removed real time scanning in one. Works well now in all 3 machines. Will speak to Mcafee support regarding this. If anyone gets feedback from them do let us know. Thanks

    Just been on live chat with Mcafee, probably unsurprisingly the problem has to be escalated and they will call me back.

    Following the ideas, I can also agree that McAfee is the cause of the problem.

    I can stop real time scanning in McAfee, load any database and compact and repair works perfectly.

    Reenabling real time scanning and compact and repair fails. I'll also try to refer this to McAfee
