Hello Microsoft Community,
I have Excel for my iPad Air 3. I’ve come across this problem that seems to randomly show itself when I am working on a spreadsheet. When using my apple pencil or fingers, I can click and move around no problem. Yet, sometimes, it then starts to auto-select multiple cells when I click a new cell. I need this to stop! I don’t know if I keep pressing some button? Searching through Google hasn’t revealed anything. I can’t get it to stop unless i restart Excel or turn off/on my ipad. But the problem keeps showing up.
As an example, let’s say I was working on B4. Once this wonky setting takes ahold, a new selection of cells is highlighted using B4 as its starting point if I click any other cell in the Excel spreadsheet.

My iPad has installed an Excel update today, but i am still having the floating marquee problem. I’m trying to work on a spreadsheet now and it’s made it impossible! Just huge grey squares of selected cells when I’m trying to input data.
Why is this issue now 2 pushing on 3 months old and MS has not resolved it? Three follow-ups tickets with their own support team and no answer response? I think all of us with this issue have been more than patient awaiting a resolution. It is time to escalate to a VP or higher to do some house cleaning at MS and get this issue resolved in the process. Starting to rethink my personal 365 and my company’s. Not the first support failure I have experienced since Oct. 2020.
If you have a keyboard press and hold shift and click another cell, release shift and click another cell. That worked for me.

This is getting ridiculous. 12th March 2021 with the same problem. It’s screwed up my recording of a timesheet. V annoyed and I would think by now there should be a solution to this bug, I don’t want to be having to take a video of it?
Agree, it’s bloody awful customer service. Paying enough money for Office 365 subscription! I’m going to have to transfer the whole damn timesheet over to Pages.
