Im having an issue when creating a new word doc using Microsoft 365 Personal

Opening up the office 365 interface on my Laptop, i then select "Word" for the left side tab, select "Blank Template" and its at this point it get:

sorry we couldn't find https //d.docs.live.net/........../Document.docx. Is it possible that it was moved, renamed or deleted?

(All of my web searches come back with "Open" instead of "Find" when looking up this issue.)

It does however open up a word doc after clicking ok but my ocd is kicking in not knowing what this is about. If i repeat the above process a number of time, it leaves a document inside my onedrive folder and keeps incrementing. Document1.docx etc.

Word and PowerPoint both have this error but Excel opens fine.

Im running windows 10 latest version,

Can anyone please help?

Cheers

Shane

    Hi Shane,

Sorry for the inconvenience the problem caused for you.

Based on your description, when you try to open Word/PowerPoint file, an error message will pop up. The error may indicate that you cannot open files saved in your OneDrive. Do you have other Microsoft account sign in OneDrive or connect any Personal OneDrive to the account you are using now?

Please try to create a new Normal template(Normal.dotm file), and then start a new file based on your template (click File > New > Custom, and click your template) to see the result. You can refer to this article to Create a template.

To help you better, could you please provide some information for me?

    1. The full screenshot of the error message.
    2. Does the problem happen when you opening existing files?
    3. The screenshot of your Office version(open an Office application>File>Account>capture a screenshot of the Product Information column).

    Appreciate your cooperation in advance.

    Best regards,

    Jazlyn

    Hi Jazlyn

I did have a personal onedrive connected but have sense unlinked these and cleared out the drive folders prior to connecting to the Microsoft 365 onedrive.

So this is the error that i am getting for both word and PP but for nothing else. I can open up existing documents without an issue.

This is what gets left in my onedrive every time the error occurs. Note the excel file is not there and i did not save the file after the error occurred. Instead i just closed down the applications. Is this suggesting its using my OneDrive home folder as a temp directory?

Screen shot of my account info.

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers

    Shane

    Hi Shane,

Thank you for the detailed reply.

I noticed that you are using a personal account, not a work / school account. There are differences between the two accounts, so they need to be handled separately.

In order to provide you with more professional help, we will help you move the post to the corresponding directory of the forum, so that the relevant support engineers can continue to solve this problem.

    Thank you for your understanding!

    Best regards,

    Jazlyn
