Hello,
For the past week and a half, the microsoft powerpoint app on the ipad continuously has been crashing whenever I try to use it. Prior to this, it worked just fine but the problems started recently. It sometimes crashes when i try to open a powerpoint, and sometimes crashes mid note taking after working for several minutes. I use this app for class and I have an exam coming up, and it has been very frustrating trying to take notes when my latest notes keep disappearing every time it crashes. Is there any way this can be fixed?
I have looked at other people who have had the same issues. I have tried restarting the app, uninstalling and reinstalling, updating. None of it has worked so far. In terms of file sizes even presentations that worked perfectly before are crashing now. I cannot recall if there was an app update in the past week or so, but other than that there have been no changes to the ipad or powerpoint. My ios is up to date and so is the app.

I’ve been using PowerPoint in the Office Suite app for awhile now and it appears to be working. It’s the best “solution” so far - in the absence of a Microsoft fix. The cost is $30/year.
One work around is to print the PowerPoint into OneNote and take notes in OneNote on the PowerPoint. Just print it from Desktop or insert the file into onenote from onedrive. Not perfect, but better than nothing.
This did not work. I am trying to take notes for school and cannot go more than a minute before the entire app crashes and all my notes delete. Is there any update on how to solve this problem???
A few days ago I had an update to PowerPoint and it's been running better, but still not what it once was. I've noticed that it will stay open and last about an hour before crashing.
Similar to someone else in this thread I'm in pharmacy school and take notes on my iPad and write hand notes later on as there just isn't time during class. I'm using the Microsoft subscription through the school.
As I stated earlier, I was using PDFs to write on, but that wasn't ideal.
I did download and pay the $30 for OfficeSuite and it works quite well, just the writing is different, and sometimes when opening the ppt later on the writing doesn't line up. You also cannot lasso select in the OfficeSuite app.
I personally find Keynote and Google Slides to be a complete pain.
I've also learned that opening documents off of the files app tends to work better than opening them through PowerPoint or OneDrive and that occasionally going into settings » PowerPoint » Reset PowerPoint has been helping it run faster.
Hopefully, this helps someone as this issue has been extremely frustrating.
Hi! I am also trying to use PowerPoint for class, but it keeps shutting down. It worked fine for the first 10 minutes, but now it won’t even open my PowerPoint before shutting off. I am on the iPad Air and the software is updated. I tried what you suggested, logged back in and attempted to open a PowerPoint, but it shut off before even opening it. Please look into this and get back to me as soon as possible. Thank you!
