Microsoft powerpoint on Ipad Air keeps crashing

Hello,

For the past week and a half, the microsoft powerpoint app on the ipad continuously has been crashing whenever I try to use it. Prior to this, it worked just fine but the problems started recently. It sometimes crashes when i try to open a powerpoint, and sometimes crashes mid note taking after working for several minutes. I use this app for class and I have an exam coming up, and it has been very frustrating trying to take notes when my latest notes keep disappearing every time it crashes. Is there any way this can be fixed?

I have looked at other people who have had the same issues. I have tried restarting the app, uninstalling and reinstalling, updating. None of it has worked so far. In terms of file sizes even presentations that worked perfectly before are crashing now. I cannot recall if there was an app update in the past week or so, but other than that there have been no changes to the ipad or powerpoint. My ios is up to date and so is the app.

I have the same issue and tried to contact microsoft support and they kept beating around the bush and avoiding the question. I hope they actually take some time to look into this issue and resolve it and quickly.

I just tried using Office Suite and so far, so good. Thank you for the suggestion. I’ll log a lot of time over the next few days and hopefully validate this workaround.

You do get a free 3-day trial. So give it a go.

    Hi RyanH6516,

Are you able to write on the slides? I just tried opening PowerPoint today and it works (or at least it doesn't crash) I can add typed notes but I haven't tried writing on the slides yet because I'm afraid it's going to start crashing again.

Absolute garbage that things haven't been fixed or even acknowledged in the last month. Fortunately mine seems to work if I turn off wifi. Hope this helps someone.

As mentioned above, I found converting my slide to keynote worked well, but unfortunately keynote doesn't allow you to save your annotations when in presentation mode. I installed the Office suite docs app which is ~ $30/year for now. It seems to work flawlessly and keeps it in ppt format, even allows you to erase/edit those annotations when opened in Office.
