External Data Refresh Failed

I am getting this error again on the same workbook... Ugh...

The uninstall/reuninstall procedure worked before, and I'll probably try it again.

First I'm going to review the new comments to see if anyone's found any better solutions as the uninstall/reinstall process in total takes ~30 - 45 minutes.

Okay, I had 1 stock in my spreadsheet which had been delisted, but I was tracking it still for historical audit purposes. I deleted that stock and the error went away. So, I can fix the worksheet by converting those specific cells to standard fixed data rather than stock data. Huge PITA though.

I too started having problems again with STOCK values in excel. the problem showed up today or in the past 1-2 days. I too discovered that it was just one stock causing the problem, so i delete the formula and just typed in a fixed numerical value for that one stock, and that allowed the rets of my worksheet to function. so annoying.

I have this issue too. I seem to have identified the offending cells - if i select all core cells with exchange:ticker (XLON:ticker in my case) and click STOCKS - it is clear that a number of entries have question marks against them. Going to those cells, deleting the current entry (e.g. XLON:ITPS) and reentering the exchange:ticker details (XLON:ITPS) then seems to clear it.

Tried this. When I highlighted and clicked STOCKS about half of my stocks came up with ? I re entered each one, They all showed fine. Did it again to make sure I did not miss any and all the ones I fixed where ? marked again. Truly frustrating, but glad it worked for you. Thank you.

Maybe try putting ticker (e.g. XLON:ITPS) into what you know to be a blank cell as text , select cell , then click STOCKS - if that works it might be a case of reformatting the cells with ?'s in as text, enter the text string (e.g. XLON:ITPS) and the click STOCKS on just that highlighted cell. It's working for me so far fingers crossed.
