External Data Refresh Failed

Thanks Wamer_ca.   Your method helped identify stale stocks :)

However, there's surely a bug because some of the stocks are still listed, just not updating.
I can even re-link some, and still have the same problem.

BTW, it would seem so much more reliable to link to the ISINrather than them trying to match the name of the stock!

Had no problems on an existing spreadsheet for months.  I am pulling in stock quotes.  Today I started getting this message:

External Data Refresh Failed  "We refreshed some of your data, but we couldn't refresh all of it because we changed or removed it on our side.  For data we can no longer refresh, we've kept the most recent results.

How do I fix it and how do I identify the cells that are not refreshing?

I recently started receiving this error as well and was very frustrated that I could not identify the problem cells.

I was able to find the problem stock listings by adding a new stock attribute for the last trade time.   This is one of the attributes that can be brought into Excel.     Doing so showed the ticker that was not updated recently and I was able to fix it.  (The wrong exchange was chosen automatically for the ticker.)

I had been getting this same error. Uninstalling/Reinstalling just didn't seem like a reasonable solution.

Mine turned out to be a delisted stock. Pretty generic error message which leads you to believe one or more cells are incorrect.

I have this issue too. I seem to have identified the offending cells - if i select all core cells with exchange:ticker (XLON:ticker in my case) and click STOCKS - it is clear that a number of entries have question marks against them. Going to those cells, deleting the current entry (e.g. XLON:ITPS) and reentering the exchange:ticker details (XLON:ITPS) then seems to clear it.

I am getting this error again on the same workbook... Ugh...

The uninstall/reuninstall procedure worked before, and I'll probably try it again.

First I'm going to review the new comments to see if anyone's found any better solutions as the uninstall/reinstall process in total takes ~30 - 45 minutes.

Okay, I had 1 stock in my spreadsheet which had been delisted, but I was tracking it still for historical audit purposes. I deleted that stock and the error went away. So, I can fix the worksheet by converting those specific cells to standard fixed data rather than stock data. Huge PITA though.
