Why is it when I copy cells from Excel and paste it into Gmail, the cells are pasted as an Image?

I usually copy and paste cells from Microsoft Excel to Gmail for work, this was was being pasted as an table of text that I could edit.

Then my computer was reformatted because of some issues and now after trying to use it again for work, I tried copying cells from Excel and pasting it in Gmail as usual, but now the cells aren't being pasted as a table, but as an image, like a screenshot of the cells. Could it be a software I had before or something?

Now the only way I can copy and paste cells from Excel is to go through Word, which adds an extra step.

I tried reinstalling MS Office, and it still didn't work, I'm currently using Microsoft Office Home and Student 2019.

    Hello Jerby,

    I am an independent advisor and Microsoft office user.

    Allow me to kindly ask that you simulate a few samples so that we can understand the point of failure.

    Close all your excel workbooks then open a new workbook. Put some raw data [ don't copy-paste from another location] then apply cell borders. Copy that range and paste it to Gmail and see how it works.

    Try on another sheet if you apply tables and copy-paste to Gmail if the behavior is the same.

    Hi Pakrashio,

    I tried opening a new, blank excel file and typed random characters as a test and copy pasted it, unfortunately, it still didn't work.

    Same here. I do this every day and I never had issues prior to today.

    I usually use Chrome and I also tried Firefox but it's the same.

    I believe it's a Gmail issue.

    I am also have same problem, selected cells from Excel 2016 being pasted as a single image into gmail. I've been doing this on a dialy basis for the past 2 years and today, 3 hours ago, this problem started.

    I've tried:

    Rebooting

    Repairing office via Windows/Apps Settings

    Saving as & copying from a 97-2003 Workbook file type

    Pasting as plain text

    Using different gmail accounts (one company managed the other personal)

    I've researched online and see this problem has popped up on occasion in the past few years but no solutions.

    A little help please? o/

    Same here.
    Tried on Chrome, Firefox.

    Copy pasting from word works.

    It works on my colleague's pc. However, it could be due to a new update/fix that is done. Need a fix for this asap!
