Why is it when I copy cells from Excel and paste it into Gmail, the cells are pasted as an Image?

I usually copy and paste cells from Microsoft Excel to Gmail for work, this was was being pasted as an table of text that I could edit.

Then my computer was reformatted because of some issues and now after trying to use it again for work, I tried copying cells from Excel and pasting it in Gmail as usual, but now the cells aren't being pasted as a table, but as an image, like a screenshot of the cells. Could it be a software I had before or something?

Now the only way I can copy and paste cells from Excel is to go through Word, which adds an extra step.

I tried reinstalling MS Office, and it still didn't work, I'm currently using Microsoft Office Home and Student 2019.

    Its not a chrome issue , Firefox has the same problem as well .

    Hello Jerby,

    Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.

    I understand many people are currently experiencing this situation and I am inclined to believe the source of this is the version of Microsoft office you are using. I use office 2016 Professional Plus with google chrome and to date, I can still copy and paste cells to any email application I want.

    Using Microsoft Edge has been known to give different results.

    You can also simulate with a CSV file which has minimalist formatting of the document.

    I believe the issue is originated by the latest update of Google Chrome. I am experiencing it on a Mac OS too. But no issue when I open Gmail on Firefox.

    Also for the moment I noticed coping first to a google sheet and then to Gmail also worked on chrome.

    Hope this helps as a work around.

    I am having same issue can´t paste Excel table directly in Gmail as I have been doing for 3 years....it pastes an image. It started today June 9th 2021

    I can paste into Word and then into Gmail but this is not an optimal solution for day to day.

    Hi All,

    Copy/pasting excel cells to Gmail email body worked fine for years.

    Now the cells are pasted as an Image instead of actual cells.

    This issue started on 08/06/21 , its either a Gmail issue or a office/windows issue.
