Power query - Excel 365 to Salesforce sandbox

When trying to connect to a Salesforce sandbox (Data > external sources > Salesforce object) i'm redirected to dummy page after entering my login credentials in the popup (.../promos.html):

connecting to production works fine.

connecting trough powerBI desktop works fine.

MS support is working on a structural fix. in the meantime a non official workarround that worked for me (to use at your own risk) is:

• For 32-bit versions of Excel running under 32-bit versions of Windows and 64-bit versions of Excel running under 64-bit versions of Windows, the key is

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_BROWSER_EMULATION

• For 32-bit versions of Excel running under 64-bit versions of Windows, the key is

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_BROWSER_EMULATION

Either way, please create a new DWORD 32bit value under that key with a name of excel.exe and a value of 0x2af8 (or decimal 11000).

Salesforce is working on this issue with Microsoft.

This could not solve by Saesforce

itself, so need Microsoft to do their effort on their side.

Hi All,

Sorry about the inconvenience caused by this issue. We can also reproduce this issue on our side.

As there are multiple users reporting this issue, we will set this thread as a primary thread, and if there are any updates on this issue, we will update the summary in this thread.

Issue symptom:

When you go to Excel > Data > Get Data > From Online Services > From SalesForce Objects/Resources.

After sign in with your salesforce account, it won't give you the table you want but redirect you to the promos.html page.

Issue environment:

Excel

Microsoft 365 Apps for Enterprise version 2007 (Build 13029.20236) Current Preview Channel

Microsoft 365 Apps for Enterprise version 1908(Build 11929.20838) Semi-Annual Enterprise Channel

Current Status:

We are looking into this issue, and will involve more related resources for further investigation.

Our org found a workaround to this issue by choosing 'Use Custom Domain' at the login prompt - do not attempt to enter your password first. I got a token error initially, but once the token was reset this process worked - we can refresh our files again.

Note: We use an SSO for Salesforce which our Custom Domain directed to, not sure that makes a difference.

Hello Clark,

Many thanks for the quick reply.

Concerning credential mgr, I did clear the credentials but that didn't solve the issue.

Concerning not having an account, you can enter any value in the login screen. the page will always redirect to the bogus "../promo.html

Concerning Excel or Salesforce, the power query login works fine when used from PowerBI desktop, which made me assume the problem is related to Excel and not to Salesforce.
