Trying to merge email from Word to Outlook on Mac not working

I have used the Merge to Email feature in Word to merge emails to Outlook hundreds of time.  It isn't currently working.  I use a Mac.

I've restarted my computer.

I've deleted Microsoft Office apps and reinstalled

I've created a new document with no formatting

I've changed fonts (to Calibir Light, to Times New Roman)

Have tried with two different email accounts and two different computers within my organizatoin

and still nothing....

It will either send one email to the first name in my Excel listing of emails or nothing at all.  Always get the same error message.

Please help.  And thanks.

The issue has been fixed in the 16.40 update that will be released on patch Tuesday next week.

    Dear Alex,

    Thank you, for the support. The issue has been resolved by attempting the steps you have mentioned. I hope that with new version 16.39 the issue get resolved sooner.

    I have one more query regarding highlighting a cell in cell in excel using keyboard, is there any way to do it using keyborad keys and moreover can you let me know where can i find list all the functions (shortcut) using keyboard in excel since there is lot of difference between version of office in windows and mac.

    I've successfully renamed Word and Mail 16.39 and downloaded and installed Word and Mail 16.38.  Mail Merge works now but I found a couple residual issues:

    1.  I had AutoUpdate on and when I rebooted (to clear everything) it wanted to update Word and Mail back to 16.39.  I've now turned Auto Update off and that's resolved other than asking if I want to update each time I reboot.   
    2.  Mail Merge works but when it is complete something is still trying to start Mail version 16.39 so I get this error message:  

    "Only one Outlook app can run at a time. Please quit any other Outlook apps that are running and try to launch Outlook again."

    Then there is a 'ghost' icon of Outlook 16.39 (not running) in the task bar.  I can easily remove it but something in the system seems to still be pointing to it.  It's more of an inconvenience since Mail Merge is working again.

    Hope it's fixed soon!

    hi Guys - can anyone give me the link to the 16.38 version of Outlook? I have installed Word V16.38 but apparently you need to also install the Outlook V16.38 too....but where to find it?? Please share the link.
