I have used the Merge to Email feature in Word to merge emails to Outlook hundreds of time. It isn't currently working. I use a Mac.
I've restarted my computer.
I've deleted Microsoft Office apps and reinstalled
I've created a new document with no formatting
I've changed fonts (to Calibir Light, to Times New Roman)
Have tried with two different email accounts and two different computers within my organizatoin
and still nothing....
It will either send one email to the first name in my Excel listing of emails or nothing at all. Always get the same error message.
Please help. And thanks.

I followed these steps and downgraded to 16.38. It still does not work. I have been using mail merge in Word for Mac with no issues every week since the Covid-19 epidemic started in March. I need this feature to communicate with my students. In addition to removing 16.39, I made sure my default mail client was 16.38.
FOLKS!!!
If you downgraded to version 16.38 and still having the issue, its because Word 16.38 is calling to Outlook 16.39 still when doing the merge. Close all versions of Outlook and Move Outlook 16.39 to the TRASH. Then Word 16.38 will have no choice but to call Outlook 16.38 when doing the merge.
All the best!
The workaround helps. Thank you! But remember to uncheck "Automatically keep Microsoft Apps up to date" at the bottom of the Microsoft AutoUpdate App. Otherwise you are back at square one. :)
Hi Carlos,
As the 16.38 has been confirmed a working workaround for both us and other community members, would you mind uninstalling the existing apps and reinstalling it again to see the result?
Currently reverting back to the previous version is the only workaround. We apologize for the inconvenience, and please kindly submit the feedback to wait for a final fix patiently.
Regards,
