Hi all,

Wondering if anyone knows what might be wrong.  When using the Inking tool in Powerpoint 2016 the teacher I'm helping can start the inking tool, pick a colour and thinkness of the writing point but there is no Markup when he tries to draw on either his tablet or mouse.

He tried:

  1. reinstalling Office 2016
  2. Makign sure all Office updates were complete
  3. Office 2010 Powerpoint works fine
  4. Google doesn't appear to have any suggestions on this one :-(

Any idears?

Thanks,

Randy

    I'm having the same problem with 2016 PowerPoint. Moving files to online version is not a good solution for me as all my docs are stored in another cloud based program and any changes made need to be manually moved back into that program. I spent hours with Microsoft Tier 2 support uninstalling and reinstalling Office 2016. The problem resolved for 1 day but then back to not working again. VERY frustrating.

    I'm having the same problem. Started for me in June 2021 and seemed to coincide w Windows update. I have spent many many many hours w Microsoft/Office support trying to resolve this problem. Tech support uninstalled Windows update - no change in problem. Microsoft/Office Tier 2 support remoted into my computer, did a complete removal of all registry files and uninstall of Office 2016, downloaded disc image to reinstall (that took over 12 hours to upload!), and did clean reinstall. Problem resolved for 1 day but then back to not working again. VERY frustrating!

    I have the same problem. With the last Office update the problem continues.

    With the help of a moderator I’ve found that build 16.0.13628.20274 is not affected. Them, a temporary solution is to reverse office to that build and stop Office updates. Problem is that build 16.0.13628.20274 has others bugs.

    Please, if anyone has the same issue, report it to Microsoft  to see if the bug is solved. Thanks.

    Temporary solution:

        Run command line as administrator and type:

            CD C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\ClickToRun (enter)

            officec2rclient.exe /update user updatetoversion=16.0.13628.20274 (enter)

        Stop immediately Office auto updates.

        Reboot

    Hi,

    You can send feedback to the Powerpoint developers. To do that, you can follow these steps:

    • In Powerpoint, go to "File";
    • In the left sidebar of the Powerpoint choose "Feddback";
    • Choose "Send negative feedback";
    • Write a succinct and objective description of the problem (there is a limited number of characters);
    • Click "Submit".
