Hi all,

Wondering if anyone knows what might be wrong.  When using the Inking tool in Powerpoint 2016 the teacher I'm helping can start the inking tool, pick a colour and thinkness of the writing point but there is no Markup when he tries to draw on either his tablet or mouse.

He tried:

  1. reinstalling Office 2016
  2. Makign sure all Office updates were complete
  3. Office 2010 Powerpoint works fine
  4. Google doesn't appear to have any suggestions on this one :-(

Any idears?

Thanks,

Randy

    Hi Randy R24,

Based on the above post, we understand that you're challenges with Ink tools in PowerPoint 2016. Let's get this addressed.

Just to confirm, does the issue also occur to your other Office programs such as Word, Excel, etc.? Also, have you tried launching your PowerPoint app in safe mode? This would help us identify an add-in or extension is causing the problem. To check, kindly follow these steps:

    1. Find the shortcut icon for your Office application.
    2. Press and hold the CTRL key and double-click the application shortcut.
    3. Click Yes when a window appears asking if you want to start the application in safe mode.

To notify us and have us get back to you, simply reply to this post.

    Hi Jomel

I have the same problem and posted here.

I have tried in safe mode as you suggest and it remains unchanged. Note I can't "mark" the page with a mouse either even though the cursor for the coloured pen can be seen on the pages

So this issue is only in PowerPoint 2016? Do any of the pens work? You mentioned switching between pen and highlighter. Is that on a "Pens" tab or a "Draw" tab?

Could someone also post a screenshot or video of this experience for more context?

Unfortunately the teacher I was helping went to a computer shop.  The tech was unable to figure it out.  The solution he came up with was to install a newer version of office the teacher already had access too.  It doesn't occur in Office 365.

    Thank you for you time,

    Randy

    Hi Jessica

None of the pens leave a trace however all show as a cursor in appropriate form e.g highlighter, pen.

When dragged across the page using either stylus or mouse it leaves no trace. When a different 'pen tip' is used the same thing occurs

It does however work in Word 2016. Pen works fine in MS Journal.

Tried to take a screenshot however all you see is an empty page and the cursor doesn't show. How do I make a video?
