Hi all,

Wondering if anyone knows what might be wrong.  When using the Inking tool in Powerpoint 2016 the teacher I'm helping can start the inking tool, pick a colour and thinkness of the writing point but there is no Markup when he tries to draw on either his tablet or mouse.

He tried:

  1. reinstalling Office 2016
  2. Makign sure all Office updates were complete
  3. Office 2010 Powerpoint works fine
  4. Google doesn't appear to have any suggestions on this one :-(

Any idears?

Thanks,

Randy

I have this issue also, but try this:

In Word, select 'ink comment' and check if pen writes in the comment box.

Then go to pen selection and try to ink as you'd expect.

Mine works when i initialise it his way - seems like a bug.

Sorry for the delay in response. We were able to pin down the problem but needed some time to evaluate the options of how to address it. We just rolled out a solution yesterday. If folks can attempt to restart Office, inking in PowerPoint 2016 should now be working.

I solved the problem by removing office manually...I used russian instruction from here:

    https://support.microsoft.com/ru-ru/office/удаление-office-вручную-4e2904ea-25c8-4544-99ee-17696bb3027b?ui=ru-RU&rs=ru-RU&ad=RU

Not sure if it is the same:

Best wishes and good luck with painting!)

    Hi Randy R24,

Based on the above post, we understand that you're challenges with Ink tools in PowerPoint 2016. Let's get this addressed.

Just to confirm, does the issue also occur to your other Office programs such as Word, Excel, etc.? Also, have you tried launching your PowerPoint app in safe mode? This would help us identify an add-in or extension is causing the problem. To check, kindly follow these steps:

    1. Find the shortcut icon for your Office application.
    2. Press and hold the CTRL key and double-click the application shortcut.
    3. Click Yes when a window appears asking if you want to start the application in safe mode.

To notify us and have us get back to you, simply reply to this post.
