Hi,
When I try to access a word doc from the folder, after clicking on it an error appears that only says "Not Implemented".
I have restarted and updated my computer and used the repair function for Microsoft word, but to no avail. I am fortunately able to access the document by first opening word then opening the document that way, but I would like to simply find the file I am looking for and open it that way.

I specified defaults for each file type. I selected Word for .doc, .dochtml, .docm, .docx, .dot, .dothtml, .dotm and .dotx. Haven't tried the repair yet. It has been my experience that repairs may produce unwanted results so that's my second last resort.
I just spent 40 minutes reading all these post, and doing all the steps to include repair. Nothing works other that restarting the computer and then after an hour or so., it doesn't work again. I get the error code "not implemented." The only way I can open a document is by opening word, and then "File" -> "open" and boom. This is so inconvenient. Too many people are complaining about the same thing... I don't think this is a computer problem, or a user problem, this is definitely a software problem. Please fix it Microsoft!! This isn't good.
Exactly. Very frustrating. The only way out is restarting. I have to do that several times a day!! Absolutely annoying.
I'm having the same problem, as well. But only on one machine (we have several), and I can't figure out the difference between them. This started happening AFTER a forced Microsoft Windows 10 update. Given the number of people with the issue here, Microsoft needs to take ownership and FIX this.
One other thing that might be of interest: so far as I can determine, it's only Office suite applications: Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint. Other apps (.pdf, video and picture files), no problem.
