Error message when opening word doc: "Not Implemented" (Word for Windows)

Hi,

When I try to access a word doc from the folder, after clicking on it an error appears that only says "Not Implemented".

I have restarted and updated my computer and used the repair function for Microsoft word, but to no avail. I am fortunately able to access the document by first opening word then opening the document that way, but I would like to simply find the file I am looking for and open it that way.

    All, I posted this originally.  The solution I use to get around this is to right click on the file and select "Open With", then "choose Another App" and then click on the Office product (Word, Excel, Access, etc).  That always works for me as a work around until I can reboot.

    Ditto, I have the same problem and no resolution.

    I do have TeamViewer installed as well, but I also have TeamViewer installed on another computer and do not have this issue on that one.

    Read through the entire thread, no real solution.  MS, is there a fix for this "not implemented" error??

    I just got Windows 10 and Office 365. I was having the same problem, and I finally figured it out. While on the Word Doc, go up to the top left and put autosave on OFF. Then save it, this way you will get the 'save as' option. After doing it this way it was saved so I could access it the way I used to with the older version of Office and had no problem uploading it to another site. Yeah, no more not implemented message.

    Seems I posted too soon the issue has come back...for all Word and Excel files.... launching by double clicking, or Right-Click "OpenWith" on a file in Explorer or on Desktop, gives the "Not implemented" error dialogue box.

    Doesn't matter if the file is blocked or unblocked in Properties.
    And they all open correctly if opened from inside Word or Excel.

    (Powerpoint files aren't showing this behaviour BTW, they will open on double click)
