Hello All,

We believe we have corrected this issue and Stocks are refreshing again. Go to the Data tab in the Ribbon and select "Refresh All". You can verify an update occurred by observing the Last Trade Time field. Please note that depending on our agreement with the Exchange, some instruments will only provide new data after End of Day. See more about our data sources here: https://support.microsoft.com/office/about-the-stocks-financial-data-sources-98a03e23-37f6-4776-beea-c5a6c8e787e6

If you're still experiencing stale data after refreshing, please reply to me with your location, platform, and the ticker symbol/name of the financial instrument that you observe not refreshing.

We also hear your reports around the field "Market Cap" now being missing from the Stocks data. We are investigating this change and hope to have the field re-enabled soon.

Lastly, we apologize for the frustration you feel toward the Stocks data type. We are going to reflect on this outage and digest your feedback, and hope to come up with a system to train customer support how to escalate outages and a surface to alert Status toward resolution.

Thank you,

Kaycee

    Hi Karam,

Sorry for the trouble caused at your end.

From the description provided, we understand the stocks for the company added in the Excel workbook are not refreshing with the updated data when you check with the information in the browser.

So, when I tested at my end by taking Microsoft as an example and using in the Excel workbook, I have to admit the Stock price for Microsoft is not updating with the values changes in the browser or the information updated in the MSN Money.

Referring to the official article about the Stocks in the Excel, the company data are provided by Refinitiv. Please refer to this article: About the Stocks financial data sources.

Since initially we tested the behavior in the latest version of Current Channel, we tried to test the behavior in the Semi-Annual Channel and the behavior is same with the Current Channel Office applications.

Moreover, we received similar thread for the Excel users on the Mac device and I assume there should be some problem with the connection between the data providers and Microsoft. So, in this situation, I request you provide the feedback in the Excel application as it takes the notice to related developing team. Reference article: How do I give feedback on Microsoft Office?

In addition, we are also contacting the relevant resources regarding the problem and we will post back in this thread as soon as there is any update from our end.

Appreciate your understanding and stay safe 😊

    Best Regards,

    Chitrahaas

    Hello,

I'm also experiencing the issue with "Stocks" not updating in my files as well. I have not seen anything saying if it was fixed, or something relating to the progress, so I thought I would inquire as well. Any luck?

    Jeremy

I'm also having this issue. Started today (September 16th) and I am running macOS Catalina version 10.15.6. Excel 365 is up to date. I have tried new spreadsheets, rebooting excel, etc. with no luck.
