1st Solution

Hi all many people using windowns 8 have this problem 2 days ago when Office 365 upgrade to version 2005 13001.yyyy

After 1 period of time repair my error this is my solution very easy

Reason for this problem is that Window 8 doesn't support Apps version on store, cause Word cannot work and run error like  api-ms-win-core-version-l1-1-1.dll on windows 8(64bit)

The best way is that

  1. Uninstall Office 365
  2. Run Window Update to 8.1 free and you can find in App store on Window 8
  3. Reinstall

Very easy not use SFC or anything else like install DLL from third party ...If you do this and effective, give me 1 like

Hi Everyone,

Assuming you're like me and want to stick with Windows 8 for one reason or another, here's how to fix this in 5 minutes:

1. Open a Windows command prompt.

2. Type the following, then press Enter:

cd "\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\ClickToRun"

3. You are now in the ClickToRun folder. Now type the following, then press Enter:

officec2rclient.exe /update user updatetoversion=16.0.12730.20352

4. This will launch the installer and will install the update (in this case a rollback). Wait for the update to completely finish. It will have a success message when done.

5. Now launch Outlook and immediately go to the File Menu > Office Account > Update Options, and completely disable all updates. This will prevent the auto-updates from running and causing the same problem again.

Please note that I tried rolling back to several versions, and you need to go back to the version above to fix this issue.

For reference it is this version:

Version 2004 (Build 12730.20352)

3rd Solution of marco60cr you can download and install offline image (64bit 16.0.12527.20482) 

Just login to your Microsoft Account, Go to your Subscriptions. Select Microsoft 365. Install. Select Other Options, Download Offline Installation

Microsoft, please, fix this issue so people like me can have the updates we're paying for. We all know Windows 8 is old, but some of us cannot easily update to 8.1.

    Yes, and it worked fine for me as well. Of course, now I'm paying an annual subscription for a product I can't update without breaking and the updates (especially security updates) are essentially the key selling point. Problem solved for now, but it's definitely time to start looking into alternatives to this flawed product. Microsoft really does need to step up.

    Dear Fellow Friends,

    Remember to keep a safe backup copy of the offline installation image. Once Microsoft will replace version 2002 (February 2020) with version 2006 (June 2020) onto the download server, any workaround will be impossible.

    Dear Microsoft,

    IMHO, along the line of what other makers (ADOBE, ORACLE, etc.) routinely do, there should be an option to permanently access that latest working release on a given Windows version. This would be customer service.

    Well said Bob!  I couldn't agree more!! I was ready to buy a MAC.  After 2 1/2 days of losing revenue by wasting my time doing the "fixes", I'm finally back to work. Did you see the work around that worked for me?

    With all due respect, this is unacceptable. I pay a yearly subscription for a product that shouldn't stop working one day and require an OS upgrade. Only Microsoft could think that is an reasonable solution. There may not be a charge to update to 8.1 but it certainly is not free considering the time and likely additional problems it will create.

    I updated my machine to 8.1 once before and after about 6 months it stopped booting up and the original 8.0 OS had to be reinstalled (along with all my other software). Do I now have to worry that one day this product will stop working on my other PC running Windows 7? Yes, it's an old machine but it works and not everyone has the money to run out and by a new computer everytime Microsoft decides to stop supporting its products. 

    Here's an idea: How about Microsoft accept responsibility for breaking its product and not hide behind the notion that it's running on an "unsupported OS"? If Microsoft wants to be a subscription services company it needs to start behaving like one. If not, perhaps it's time to use another service provider who does. Please consider this before deciding not to issue a fix for this problem.  

     

    Thank you for voicing that opinion. That's basically exactly the situation I am in: I also updated to 8.1 before, computer stopped booting up, original 8.0 had to be reinstalled and I have been unable to update since.

    My computer may be old, but it's working? The idea that I would have to replace it when it's still good makes me sick. That's such a waste of resources... Sustainability and electronic equipment anyone?

    To add insult to injury, I am paying for a software that is *forcing* me to replace a computer that is still working alright...?
