Copy and Paste Text from OneNote mobile iOS app to the Messages App

When I try to copy and paste text from the OneNote mobile iOS app to the Messages app, it pastes an HTML file with the text instead of only the text.  This is a new issue. In the past, I was always able to copy text from OneNote, and paste the text to the Messages app.  I cannot find any settings in the OneNote app or the Messages app that would seem to help.

    We want to know more about the issue you're having with copying and pasting text in HTML format instead of plain text only in OneNote. Please answer the questions below:

    • Is this concern happening exclusively to OneNote iOS app and the Message app only or to other iOS apps as well? If it does, which app are those?
    • Can you tell us which version of iOS are you using?

    I tried replicating your concern and I wasn't able to experience the issue. Can you provide how you were able to determine if it is in HTML format or Plain Text? You can send us a screenshot so that we can have a clear idea of the concern.

    Thanks for your response. Here are the answers to your questions. 1) This seems to be happening exclusively to OneNote. I've tried other apps, and copy and paste seems to work fine. 2) I am using iOS 13.1.2, the most recent version.  I was hopeful that the update would fix the problem.

    I tried copying and pasting from OneNote to another app, and that worked fine.  So I think it is either the iOS copy and paste function, or the Messages app that is not receiving the text from OneNote correctly. I am wondering whether something was corrupted in the recent updates. I've tried to work with Apple support as well, but they haven't been able to solve it.

    I want to verify if you have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the OneNote app to get a fresh and updated copy? If you haven't, please do so because doing so can help solve the issue. I also suggest contacting Apple support for this concern because this was working fine before the update happened.

    Yes, I have deleted and reinstalled OneNote.

    I decided to do a full reinstall of the iPhone.  Unfortunately, even that didn't work.  

    I have been in touch with Apple Support a few times, and the Apple Community.  Apple support gave me a workaround - paste to Notes, then copy and paste to Messages.  Would rather not do that.

    Will continue to work with Apple. Let me know if you think of anything else I might try.

    Uninstalling and reinstalling OneNote could have fixed the issue. However, there is an on going issue with the software of your device due to updates. This might have caused OneNote to malfunction so, I recommend to continue consulting your device manufacturer for this issue and if there would be an update, I will let you know.
