One Note - Hiding completed tasks once completed on Desktop

Where in One Note desktop version is the hide completed tasks from To Do lists. On my phone the completed tasks disappear but on the desktop they all remain making this a useless very long To Do list - finding open tasks is awful. Having to fully delete Tasks in To Do lists in Desktop OneNote leaves no record of ever doing the task. Often I want to check when I completed it - particularly with my work account. There should be an option in the ribbon to hide completed To Do's once completed. If it does exist I would love to know how to do it as I can't find it.

I have started using OneNote at work and on my personal account for organising and recording daily activities and this flaw is making me have to look at alternatives for To Do lists which is a shame, as the mobile version seems to have the functionality.

Hi, please see below. It's an old list below but I want the old items to disappear - as they do in iOS app. The tasks with ticks could have been completed months ago but still appear and all I want to see is open tasks - ie ceiling in kitchen (as below)

I tried replicating your issue, I also experienced the same action where a long list of to do's are lined-up and there is no way to hide the completed To-Do lists. To be sure that we are on the same page, I would like to request a screenshot of the issue so that I can figure out if we have the same outcome. Please refrain from adding any personal information when sending a screenshot. If you need instructions about adding screenshots to your post, click on this link.

    Hi Bob,

    Thanks for your response.

Your response is not technically correct. My Office 365 OneNote does sync over my devices. I use on desktop, laptop and on Iphone app and they sync.

On the Iphone, when I click a To Do task complete, it is then hidden, leaving the balance of tasks To Do visible. On the desktop version the tasks all sit there struck through but visible in a gigantic list and finding the To Do tasks is a hunt through a long list. My query is why isn't this function available as an option on the desktop? I don't want to see all my completed tasks when I have finished them, but would like the facility to find them later to see what date I did complete in the future.

Hope this helps. It's an easy fix for Microsoft with an option in desktop app that isn't currently available. It will improve the desktop One Note app.

    Regards

    Hi Julian,

Thank you for posting this to the community forum. I hope you're doing good today despite having an issue with the to-do list in OneNote. Let's try to get to the bottom of this concern.

When you create a To-do in OneNote app, it is exclusive to the device where the OneNote app is located. It can't be sync to other devices.

To isolate the issue, please provide answers to the following questions:

    • Can you tell us more how was the task created?
    • How are syncing the to-do list?

    We'll wait for your response.

    Bob
