Excel crash after update to version 2001 12430.20050

Hi all,

Since version 2001 2430.20050 , Excel is no longer responding as it should :

  • Save as - Browse : no exporer window is shown
  • New file - Save : file is not saved, on exit excel the confirmation window is shown every time over when replying "yes" on the question to save the file
  • file - options - addins - manage excel addins : when clicking the button, excel crashes

Tried this on different hardware with different accounts, they all react the same.

A solution is highly apreciated.

Related Microsoft team stated that this incident i.e. OP200466 has been resolved as of Saturday, January 18, 2020, at 4:26 PM UTC. Affected users can download an update that will fully mitigate this issue. If still problem persists, you can feel free to post back to us.

    Hello friend, how did you install an older version? Here in Brazil, we have the same problem at the office, and would like to go back to the previous version!

    Title: Excel client crashes

    User Impact: Users may encounter Excel client crashes in several scenarios.

    More info: Users may encounter crashes in scenarios such as printing, executing macros, and using zoom, among others.

    Current status: Reverting the build to the last working iteration is taking more time than initially expected. At this time, we suspect that it should complete on Friday, January 17, 2020.

    Scope of impact: This issue may affect any Insiders Slow users of Excel on a non-English language version 2001 with build 12430.20050 and running the 32-bit version of Excel.

    Start time: Tuesday, January 14, 2020, at 1:18 PM UTC

    Root cause: A recent build deployment is causing client crashes with the Excel client in several scenarios.

    Next update by: Friday, January 17, 2020, at 6:30 PM UTC

    Hola buenas,

    Hay una solución temporal:

    1. Deshabilitar actualizaciones automaticas en el apartado "Cuentas".

    1. Crear un script .bat con la siguiente información:

    cd "C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\ClickToRun"

    officec2rclient.exe /update user updatetoversion=16.0.6366.2062

    1. Ejecutar este script .bat como administrador.
