Excel crash after update to version 2001 12430.20050

Hi all,

Since version 2001 2430.20050 , Excel is no longer responding as it should :

  • Save as - Browse : no exporer window is shown
  • New file - Save : file is not saved, on exit excel the confirmation window is shown every time over when replying "yes" on the question to save the file
  • file - options - addins - manage excel addins : when clicking the button, excel crashes

Tried this on different hardware with different accounts, they all react the same.

A solution is highly apreciated.

Hi All,

Related Microsoft team stated that this incident i.e. OP200466 has been resolved as of Saturday, January 18, 2020, at 4:26 PM UTC. Affected users can download an update that will fully mitigate this issue. If still problem persists, you can feel free to post back to us.

    As of 2/5/2020 this issue is NOT resolved. Excel crashes multiple times per day.

    Hi All,

    Apologies for all the inconvenience caused at your end and issue is noticed by related Microsoft Team where they’re currently working on it. This issue has posted to the Service Health Dashboard (SHD)as incident OP200466 starting at January 14, 2020, at 1:18 PM UTC. 

    The user experience of this incident is: Excel client crashes in several scenarios.

    Current status: The deployment has reached the first major milestone, enabling all users to download the new update, which remediates impact. To download to update users need to navigate to File > Account > Update Options > Update Now. To mitigate impact, users will need to manually update their Excel client. The deployment that will prompt users to download the update continues to progress throughout the environment. The deployment is expected to complete on Sunday, January 19, 2020. 

    Tenant administrator can view current information and updates on SHD at the link here.

    If you are experiencing a similar issue and do not see an SHD post, please let us know by sharing your tenant information via Private Message (PM) as this may indicate either a scoping issue or an independent problem.  

    Moreover, there was a new update released yesterday for Monthly Channel Targeted i.e. Version 2001 (Build 12430.20120) and you can try updating to latest version.

    This thread will be closed for further posting in order for affected customers to easily identify the information here. You may subscribe to this primary thread. Updates on this issue will be posted there once the issue has been resolved on SHD.

    Lucas, tambem tivemos o problema aqui na ULB. A solução foi criar um arquivo .bat com o seguinte comando...

    cd "C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\ClickToRun"

    officec2rclient.exe /update user updatetoversion=16.0.12325.20298

    Depois executa como administrador o arquivo *.bat que criou e vai dar certo.

    Com esse comando ai, vai fazer o office voltar para a versão 1912 (Build 12325.20298), essa versão está funcionando normalmente. Porem não se esqueça de desativar o update automático. Para isso siga o caminho no excel: Arquivos > conta > Atualizações do Office > Desabilitar atualizações > confirmar.

    Ao menos o usuario não fica com o excel parado. Deixa assim até sair um update fazendo a correção. Já fiz esse processo em varias maquinas aqui e funcionou em todas.
