Excel crash after update to version 2001 12430.20050

Hi all,

Since version 2001 2430.20050 , Excel is no longer responding as it should :

  • Save as - Browse : no exporer window is shown
  • New file - Save : file is not saved, on exit excel the confirmation window is shown every time over when replying "yes" on the question to save the file
  • file - options - addins - manage excel addins : when clicking the button, excel crashes

Tried this on different hardware with different accounts, they all react the same.

A solution is highly apreciated.

Related Microsoft team stated that this incident i.e. OP200466 has been resolved as of Saturday, January 18, 2020, at 4:26 PM UTC. Affected users can download an update that will fully mitigate this issue. If still problem persists, you can feel free to post back to us.

    We use the german version 2001.12430.20050 and Excel crashes after I would change the format a cell.

    Try to right click on a cell and click format => crash!

    Hi Jonas,

    The cell colouring problem has been noticed here as well. 

    Further on it's also impossible to add tabsheets to a new Excel document (with the '+' Button) , right clicking the first tabsheet, and selecting  'Insert ...' does allow you to add a tabsheet..

    Opening the Font-settings makes Excel crash as well.

    These are all very spooky problems, and for now the sole solution is indeed the reinstall.

    For what I notice in all the reactions is that only non-English languagepack users are affected?

    We have the same problem here on multiple machines. Using german language. Excel crashes when you try to print. Also I noticed, that the preview colours for colouring a cell dont match the actual colour.

    For us only a clean reinstall solved the issue.

    We are using dutch language, didn't try your solution.  We had to uninstall Office, and do a full re-install.  That solved the problem for us.  Online repair (full) wasn't effective in our case.
