I just updated to word for Mac 16.25. Word no longer remembers the sizing of the document, and always opens to a very small window. Never happened before the update.

Hi All,

We have received several reports about the same issue recently. For others to easily identify the information here, I’m summarizing the issue as follows:

Issue description:

After updating to version 16.25 (190512), Word for Mac can no loner remember the window size closed last time. It always opens at a fixed size.

Environment:

Word for Mac version 16.25 (190512) on all three latest version of Mac OS.

Assessment:

We can reproduce the same behavior on our side. And we are reporting the issue to our related team for further investigation. Once there is any update, we will post back as soon as possible. As a workaround, you can open the Word for Mac application first and open the file from the recent list or from the File menu.

Thanks,

Ran

A related problem is that I CONSTANTLY have to resize the Word for Mac document window to fit my screen, otherwise it defaults to full size, which locks it from doing lots of other things I need like "Arrange all" documents to shuttle back and forth between them. Incredibly annoying that you can't set this in preferences.

Mac Pages is much easier to work with, then I convert it to Word at the end if I need to.

They fast update is available now. When you press update select the fast update option in the drop down menu. You can then switch back when main update rolls out.

I am using Microsoft Word Version 16.25 for Mac with an Office 365 Subscription.

All of a sudden, possibly after the recent update, every time I open an existing word document or a create a new file, the window is small (about 5x7) and appears in or near the upper left hand part of the screen.

I have hundreds of files that I now need to drag to the sides/bottom of my screen manually so that they will open on the entire screen next time I use them.  This is very frustrating!

Who at MS decided that it is to the users' advantage to work with a 5x7 window?  By the way, Excel is doing it too!

Hope there is a fix soon.

    Ingrid
