I just updated to word for Mac 16.25. Word no longer remembers the sizing of the document, and always opens to a very small window. Never happened before the update.

Hi All,

We have received several reports about the same issue recently. For others to easily identify the information here, I’m summarizing the issue as follows:

Issue description:

After updating to version 16.25 (190512), Word for Mac can no loner remember the window size closed last time. It always opens at a fixed size.

Environment:

Word for Mac version 16.25 (190512) on all three latest version of Mac OS.

Assessment:

We can reproduce the same behavior on our side. And we are reporting the issue to our related team for further investigation. Once there is any update, we will post back as soon as possible. As a workaround, you can open the Word for Mac application first and open the file from the recent list or from the File menu.

Thanks,

Ran

Could I suggest that 'several reports' has become a universal avalanche among users - this is really frustrating, when might we get a fix!

Thanks for your response but in view of my limited IT knowledge, trying to learn some other program would take much more time than simply pulling the bottom of the page down.

@RonaldEverett1 Word processors haven't changed much since Raytheon created the first standalone version on a dedicated terminal... in the early '80s. And there are virtual clones of MS Word that are free (such as LibreOffice and OpenOffice, as well as Google Docs) and that can be understood and used in minutes. Yet... that's not the point really.

If this is a widely experienced glitch, Microsoft should feel obligated to fix it right away. It should go at the front of the line -- ahead of new feature requests and alongside anything that puts documents at risk, such as having the application quit without reason with a loss of users' input.

The benefit of computing is lost when something that should be standard requires manual adjustment. Think of it this way: if every time you went to compose a hand-written document you were given only a third of a sheet of paper, you'd likely consider it unacceptable that you'd have to tape two other pieces of paper together to get a full sheet (or that you'd have to use three times as many one-third sheets, which would get very bulky very quickly).
