I just updated to word for Mac 16.25. Word no longer remembers the sizing of the document, and always opens to a very small window. Never happened before the update.

Hi All,

We have received several reports about the same issue recently. For others to easily identify the information here, I’m summarizing the issue as follows:

Issue description:

After updating to version 16.25 (190512), Word for Mac can no loner remember the window size closed last time. It always opens at a fixed size.

Environment:

Word for Mac version 16.25 (190512) on all three latest version of Mac OS.

Assessment:

We can reproduce the same behavior on our side. And we are reporting the issue to our related team for further investigation. Once there is any update, we will post back as soon as possible. As a workaround, you can open the Word for Mac application first and open the file from the recent list or from the File menu.

Thanks,

Ran

And by the way, there IS a solution. It is called 16.24 or Word 2016.

    It is the ONLY answer.

There has been an upgrade and it wasn't fixed.

There is a new beta version and it is not fixed in the beta version.

There were 2 Microsoft employees who contributed to this thread in the beginning and promised a solution. But they are now practicing the art of being silent.

Whoever thinks that this is ever going to be solved, is as ignorant as Bill Gates and the whole of Microsoft.

    Hello All:

Can confirm issue exists with Word 16.26 (macOS 10.13.6) and 16.25 (macOS Mojave 10.14.5).

Opening existing files either double-click it, or via File>Open, same issue.  File window is resized and text appears small.

Removing all of O365 and reinstalling all of O365 did not resolve issue.  When downgrading to version 16.16, issue does not occur, when I update to 16.25, issue returns.

The issue exists with the recent build of Word. No real way to fix it without an updated from MS.

Hope this helps start a fire to get things remedied soon.

    My two cents.

    Hi Mjscap51,

Thanks for posting on our forum.

I could understand your feeling, to narrow down the issue, I suggest you try the following steps to open file to check if it can remember the window’s size:

    1. Open Word.
    2. Click File>select Open.
    3. Select the file to open.

If the issue still exists, could you please provide the following information for further analysis?

    1. The OS version. (Click Apple icon>select About the Mac)
    2. Check if all files meet the issue, can you create a new file?

    Regards,

    Qing
