Printing to OneNote Windows 10 app cuts off margins of all documents with no controls to fix!

My users have been suffering with this every day since we were forced to use OneNote Windows 10 after MS ripped it out of the Office 365 installer.  We are rolling out Teams and heavily rely on OneNote to "print" documents into the Team Notebooks.  I have called o365 support, they told me I now have to pay Windows support since our problem is in OneNote Win 10 and not OneNote 2016 so they no longer support OneNote.  I have submitted feedback via the OneNote Win 10 app, I've submitted in UserVoice, I've commented on other's questions here and also in other's user voice submissions.  I've seen no response from anyone on the OneNote team as to why such a fundamentally simple problem ever made it into the wild and why no one will fix this simple problem.

What is probably most frustrating is that if we print to OneNote 2016 this worked perfectly every time.  If we print the same document to OneNote Win 10 app, it fails EVERY time.

Anyone out there ever print to OneNote Win 10 and see their document cut off on top/bottom left/right margins?  Anyone here on the OneNote team, ever use ONeNote and try to print a document to OneNote win 10?

Buehler?.... Buehler?...

    Chris,

After doing a little more research, Microsoft did reply to a similar question/problem saying that some of the printer manufacturers have not yet switched to using DPI, and this causes the issue.  Microsoft then stated currently there is no fix for that (which goes along with the Printer Driver problem).  Seems people are taking screenshots and pasting them into a word-type program, and then printing from there.

Disappointing that Microsoft didn't take into consideration older printers when developing their newer programs.

     Thanks Chris

Thanks for the additional info Liz.  I have been saying it is a OneNote Win 10 Print driver issue as no matter what we print to OneNote Win 10, using that driver, it gets cut off.  It is just much more noticable when printing an invoice or other document when it cuts off pricing etc.  Print all the sames things to OneNote 2016 driver and they look perfect!  I've also noticed that the resulting OneNote page and image in OneNote 2016 vs. OneNote win 10 are completely different.

At any rate, Rena seems to agree it is a Print driver issue.  I am just confused how that makes it a Windows Product Team problem since neither print driver really comes with Windows and both are installed as you install OneNote 2016 or OneNote Windows 10.  And yes, I do understand that windows 10 now comes with OneNote win 10 preinstalled but it is just that.  An app that they pre-installed.  I have been able to remove the OneNote Win 10 app and print driver and it gets re-installed once I reinstall OneNote win 10.

    Chris and Rena,

I don't believe it is a One Note problem, as I have the same problem with screenshots and photos- the picture is cut off at the margins when printing (even though preview is fine) with no option to adjust the margin settings.

Thank you Rena, I appreciate the follow up.  How will we be able to follow any progress toward fixing this while it is in the other product group?  Will you still be following and updating for us?  Will someone from that group take over and keep us posted here?  I just don't want to lose track of it especially if the release cycle is going to be a long one.

    Thanks,

    Chris

    Hi Chris,

I just got the response from the related resource that the product team has treated it as a Windows print driver issue. So, they have created a bug for Windows team for further troubleshooting. As the issue is more related to the Windows OS and Windows update cycle is slower than Office 365, there may need more time to get a fix.

Sorry for the inconvenience but I have done all what I can do within our escalation channel.

    Regards,

    Rena
