Since installing Catalina 10.15 and Office 365 16.30 (updates installed the same day (something I will not due again)) when I attempt to save a workbook that I have used for a couple of years, I receive the alert: 'Your changes could not be saved to xxx.xlsx due to a sharing violation. I then receive the alert The file format end extension of 646820000.mactf don't match.
I contacted the Answer Desk who say it is an Apple Product and Apple support said it is a Microsoft problem.
Any thoughts or suggestions will be appreciated.

Tom Apex and Steve Kra - I would be willing to help you try to reproduce the problem. I went back to 16.29 and it has been working fine, but I can reinstall 16.35. Just let me know what you need me to do. Thank you!
I have this issue running Excel 16.37 on a 16" MacBook Pro running macOS 10.15.3. My files are on an SMB shared drive. I'm happy to help troubleshoot. This happened today with a brand new file. Interestingly, the first save worked (Save As from CSV to Excel format), but not since.
Hi, Steve!
I issued the same problem with sharing violation on excel v. 16.35 on mac. No matter if its is file, created earlier by me of other user: It fails on saving. (BTW, Word lets me save files flawlessly)
I definitely believe that it's because I use macbook pro retina 13 (late 2013) with SD card slot & these problems begin when I'm saveing xlsx files to external sd card. As Catalina shows some strange permission information for this card and it can't be changed.
But please let me know if you have any fix for that.
I had been having the sharing violation problem on my Mac as well. I was on Catalina version 10.15.3 and on Excel version 16.34. I tried several other versions of Excel from 16.29 through 16.35. The only version of Excel where I did not get the error was 16.29.
Last night my Mac updated to Catalina 10.15.4. I put Excel 16.35 back on and I have not been able to reproduce the error since then. So it seems like it was the combination of Catalina 10.15.3 and Excel versions greater than 16.29 were causing the problem.
