Since installing Catalina 10.15 and Office 365 16.30 (updates installed the same day (something I will not due again)) when I attempt to save a workbook that I have used for a couple of years, I receive the alert: 'Your changes could not be saved  to xxx.xlsx due to a sharing violation.  I then receive the alert The file format end extension of 646820000.mactf don't match.

I contacted the Answer Desk who say it is an Apple Product and Apple support said it is a Microsoft problem.

Any thoughts or suggestions will be appreciated.

I called the support line at 800n 642-7676.  After being connected and working with them for a few minutes. t, I asked for esculate to level II because we were getting nowhere.  The Tech did this and connected me.

The level II tech could recreate the problem and too this to the developers.  The say they will include the resolution in the D4cember 2019 update.

Thank you, I'll giver them a call

Reverting back to 16.29 fixed the problem for me. I chatted online with a tech support person and they sent me the link to download the older version.

I updated to macOS Catalina a couple days ago and since then have the same problem and am unable to just save any edited files without working around this problem (open file, edit it, delete the original file and associated folder, then save the edit file).

How did you get hold of a tech support person who can provide the link for version 16.29?

    Thanks

    -Ray

I had the exact same problem with Mojave after the 16.3 update. I could not save a file anywhere... local drive or network drive. Same error messages. Reverting back to 16.29 fixed the problem.
