apa 7th edition

I am a new grad student and find this totally ridiculous. We are expected to use the 7th edition style with zero instruction and the one thing that could be so helpful is to use the template in MS Word. This should be a huge priority for MS and I am so disappointed that I, like so many others, are going to have to slog this out for no reason.

It is an ongoing issue. Every time the standard body updates the standard, it takes MS 2 or 3 years to catch up.  It is a constant game of catch up.  Unfortunately professors are snobs (<g> I typed snots first time ... ) and refuse to recognize the limits of the software. I had the same problem 40 years ago doing a thesis.

It is at the bottom of the priority pile for MS. Education doesn't make enough money for MS to make it a priority

Find an existing feedback, in Win Feedback Hub or Uservoice, get the link and ask your instructor to pass the link to to all of their students to vote on (may proof of voting gets the a 1% bonus grade?).

Since you can't rely on MS, here are some web pages, including some web pages that are supposed to generate references in the correct format

You should also send and email, social media post to the APA, applying pressure to them to create their own Word format template that people can use. Either as a free download, or as part of the style guide (purchase)

You can download the template by clicking APA 7th Edition Template for Microsoft Word. 

The file will download to the bottom of your browser if you are using a PC. If you are using a Mac, the file will save to your downloads folder.

The template includes a title page, a page for the body of your content, and a reference list with hanging indent.

There are formatting differences between the 6th and 7th APA editions. Look at your syllabus and/or assignment to see which edition of APA your instructor wants you to use.

Word 365 it is broken down to the various citing formats and apa 7th edition is not under the reference tab just APA 6th edition.

Hi, I think the question is, will word update automatically  with the new, 7th edition of the apa style? Currently word uses the 6th edition for formatting.
