apa 7th edition

One year and still nothing ! 

You've already got all of the relevant suggestions:

• this is not a place MS looks for complaints (although this MAY be changing)
• send "Feedback" via Win10 Feedback Hub, or in App "I don't/like something" buttons
• try the XML file provided by MikeSlagle for partial APA 7 support

Back in the late 1980's, early 1990's, MS added "bibliography" support as a "me too" feature to copy a feature WordPerfect had (just like Master/Sub documents). Once the feature was added to feature list, buyers could see it there, they just didn't do their homework to see that it is not supported by MS to keep it up to date ... 

Bottom line, is the MS $$$Bottom line$$$

• Students don't make corporate spending decisions, they have lots of free time to do it manually
• Teachers don't make corporate spending decisions, they can make students do it manually, no problem for the teacher
• Schools make buying decisions based on corporate requests: teach MS Office!
• Authors are poor
• (Journal) Publishers can make authors use current / unsupported (in MS Word) standards, because it does not cost the publisher anything, and authors are poor
• Corporations make buying decisions based on the bottom line: back in 1990 M$ Office was the first / cheapest bundle of business software.
• Office is now the "corporate standard", so corporate inertia and resistance to change keeps businesses from moving from Office, even though it is now infinitely more expensive, aka Office 365 "cash cow" subscription model.
• Office is now the "corporate standard" because students use it in school (a bit of a circular argument, right ...)

Bottom line, there is no $$$ incentive for MS to spend money keeping Word current with the various publishing style guides (there are a LOT of them).

Please do submit a feedback to MS complaining about the lack of support. Pass a share link to all of your friends. Maybe if enough people complain MS will eventually do something about it. The do act on some tiny fraction of feedbacks

Be glad you are not using MLA style guide. They are a month away from releasing their next version, putting MS 2 versions behind!

Possible good news, speculation.  MS has said they are releasing the next onetime payment version Office 2021 "sometime" this year.  Although there has been no sign of it, in the past "new version" releases was a time MS crammed new features because they got the biggest bang for their publicity buck. So, MAYBE ... , they will update bibliography support then ... Maybe ... Too bad for MLA.

Its probably been quite a bit longer than that.

Formatting for 6th edition is already available in msword under the references menu. yes you do have to input for it, but without having 7th edition available in word under the references menu, you can't be sure if your references or citations conform to 7th edition. you have also to research what the changes between msword apa6th edition & 7th edition are.

Any good professor worth their weight in salt will tell their students not to rely on MS Word for proper formatting of citations. They will instead insist on buying the latest style guide for your particular citation format and do it manually.
