When printing with Excel, the page layout is being affected by display scaling. I had it set at 125%. A spreadsheet that normally prints to 6 pages is trying to print to 9 or 10 pages. Adjusting the page size in "page break view" does not fix the problem. This is with the setting, "fit all columns on one page". If you simply reduce the *print* scaling (by a percentage, instead) until it print on only 6 pages, the sheet appears more narrow than it normally does.
If you simply set the display scaling back to 100%, it fixes the problem. Display scaling should only change what I see, not how it prints.
Furthermore, checking the box under excel shortcut: "disable display scaling on high dpi settings" does NOT disable the display scaling for excel like it should. I had to completely shut it off under display settings to resolve the problem.
Edit: Added *print* to the scaling option I was referring to. Please note display scaling setting is in windows and print scaling is in excel.

I randomly ran into this problem as well. Office.com support was literally cluess but I found what fixes the printing format for me.
When setting the properties on excel.exe under the compatibility tab I had to use the "change for all users" option, then "change high DPI settings"
Then using the option at the bottom "High DPI scaling override" setting set to "system" fixes excel changing the page layout in response to the windows resolution scaling.
The side effect of this workaround is that your excel text will not be as clear, but i can deal with it slightly blurry rather than printing incorrectly.
I just have to say that this type of thing is totally unacceptable. I mean these are both microsoft products and why a display resolution scaling option would impact how page layout formatting is rendered really just underscores MS lack of quality control when they roll out these updates and I really hope they get this big fixed soon.

If you changed the DPI settings but did not restart the PC, or at minimum sign out and back in, your DPI settings may not have fully taken effect. I only suspect this because blurry text is a symptom of this. That could possibly explain why the problem didn't occur for you.
This might sound crazy but have any of you played around with the cell styles. I dont remember what update it was but all of a sudden the tool bar at the top looked different with the cell styles not displaying in the tool bar but an Ikon with an arrow. with that being said if you change the cell style font everything on the screen changes in reguards to how its desplayed. so Im wondering when that style chosen is different for a spread sheet than the default in your excel options, could that be the problem. I can tell you my scaling problem started when they changed the tool bar ikons to the larger ones.
Apparently, Excel cell sizes are constructed based on some math that includes the monitor scaling value, and it can push your cell up or down a pixel which of course messes up printing or embedding into a Word file.
We have this exact same issue. In fact, if you log into an RDS with it set to full screen, it carry's the issue right though. I changed the RDS connection client to not use full screen and it fixed it right there.
"Optimize for compatibility" may be the fix in O365, but not in Office standard. I was told by a Microsoft tech (when I called in and spent 2 hrs reproducing the issue for him) that "feature" isn't to be included in our version. I would consider this basic functionality and not a "feature."
One of the reasons we moved to Windows 10 was for monitor scaling, and now we have this awesome problem. #ThanksMicrosoft
