Excel printing and display scaling bug

Office 365 x64 ver 1709 (Build 8431.2236 click-torun)

When printing with Excel, the page layout is being affected by display scaling.  I had it set at 125%.  A spreadsheet that normally prints to 6 pages is trying to print to 9 or 10 pages.  Adjusting the page size in "page break view" does not fix the problem.  This is with the setting, "fit all columns on one page".  If you simply reduce the *print* scaling (by a percentage, instead) until it print on only 6 pages, the sheet appears more narrow than it normally does.

If you simply set the display scaling back to 100%, it fixes the problem.  Display scaling should only change what I see, not how it prints.

Furthermore, checking the box under excel shortcut:  "disable display scaling on high dpi settings" does NOT disable the display scaling for excel like it should.  I had to completely shut it off under display settings to resolve the problem.

Edit:  Added *print* to the scaling option I was referring to.   Please note display scaling setting is in windows and print scaling is in excel.

    Matt,

    First off, I am a normal guy with no canned answers.

    I have the same issue and now with colleagues using Windows 7 and Windows 10, it is an absolute nightmare.

    We use Excel for our quoting tools and proposal generation and the words and pages are all different to the point that we have to upgrade all users of the tools to new computers with Windows 10.

    In Windows 7 we had the same Display scale issues where everyone needed to be on the same scale in order for our print macro to print out a PDF that didn't mess up the pages.   The bridge between 7 and 10 made that no better as that scaling option is buried and doesn't have the same functionality.

    I do not think the good people at Microsoft (aka Michaelsoft) get it.

    They almost need us to fly out to their offices to demo the bug.

    I just deleted the custom fonts in cell styles and modified my "normal" font to match my default font in excel options and guess what fixed.  I took the advise on custom default settings restarted my computer, then did the above font stuff and looks like its good now.  I will post again after I work with it a bit more but Im just courious if you guys try that does that fix ur problem as well

    Yes... windows is def an awesome problem.  Feels like I spend more time fixing what updates break than i spend on what i need to be doing.

    Yes i signed out, and the blurry is because you are exempting the excel app from the influence of the system scaling, and assuming also the "blurry fix".

    Apparently, Excel cell sizes are constructed based on some math that includes the monitor scaling value, and it can push your cell up or down a pixel which of course messes up printing or embedding into a Word file.

    We have this exact same issue.  In fact, if you log into an RDS with it set to full screen, it carry's the issue right though.  I changed the RDS connection client to not use full screen and it fixed it right there.

    "Optimize for compatibility" may be the fix in O365, but not in Office standard.  I was told by a Microsoft tech (when I called in and spent 2 hrs reproducing the issue for him) that "feature" isn't to be included in our version.  I would consider this basic functionality and not a "feature."
